Field (target) crossbow shooting in USA and Canada

Are there any field crossbow shooters in the Forum? The National Crossbowmen of the USA, Inc. (www.crossbowusa.com) was a powerful organization in the past. They organized world championships in 1986, for example. What is the situation nowadays? How many members they have? Are there national competi...

Thank you guys for your answers. Wabi, do you make a few threads to the back of the insert before you put the rod in?

How to get brass inserts for a 2114 or 2117 shaft?

Hello,

I live in Europe and I would like to have brass inserts for a 2114 or 2117 shaft. Do you know any archery shops where I could buy them? Also, do you know what is the weight of these inserts?

Thank you,

Hello,

Of course, the F.O.C value is also important. The F.O.C value of my target bolts is around 16%. I use FlexFletch 187 (4,75 mm) vanes.

Hello,

DaveHawk, heavy point is needed when shooting small diameter (1714 or 1716) bolts to get enough total weight. If one makes, for example, 14 inches long 1714 bolt, the shaft weigts only 113 grains.

Where to get heavy 175 grain points?

Hello,

Do you guys know where to get heavy, around 175 grain glue-in points for 1716 shafts? I do not know any company that makes such a heavy points. But perhaps some of you have some information or contacts.

Hello,

Mike, I had this same experience yesterday also! I was shooting outdoors from 77 yards, and I heard a sort of metallic sound. When I went to the target, there were two arrows on the gold area of the target. The another one went through the first one. :D

New target bolt configuration

Hello, What do you think about the next configuration for target bolts? The bow is a 150 pounds recurve crossbow. I do target shooting up to 77 yards. The shaft would be 14 inches long Easton A/C Super Slim, size 300, weight 161 grains. The end and point inserts would be Easton H.I.T inserts 16 grai...

Hello,

Thank you guys for the answers. So, do you think that even 1816 shaft could be fine for the 150 pounds recurve bow with ten inch powerstroke? Of course, the weight should be high enough.

Hello, Thank you for the answers. I do not have Excalibur bow. With my bow the problem is not that the string will hit over the shaft. The question is, in general, that is 14 inches long 1918 shaft stiff enough to shoot with 150 pounds bow? However, the inner thickness of the shaft is quite big. Tha...

Spine of the Easton XX75 1918 shaft

Hello, Do you guys know what is the spine of the Easton XX75 1918 shaft? Obviously, Easton do not manufacture these shafts any more. So, I can not find their spine value from the Easton catalog. I do know that the weight of this shaft is 11.58 grains per inch. With this shaft I could get enough weig...

Hello,

I have now sanded and cleaned the shaft with acetone. I also used NPV Saunders glue again. Well, it did not work. It seems that epoxy works. So, I have to use epoxy to fletch my arrows. At least it is really "heavy" staff. :)
