Re: place to shoot around Meaford/Owensound
I spent a fair bit of time on the base and was a member of the fish and game club. While I never shot up there I did tons of fishing. If I recall they had a decent archery range in the works near one of the run down ranges at the top of Warner hill. If you are taking your bow pop in and see range co...

Re: turkey is over now time for some coyotes
There must be close to three quarters of a million coyotes shot in Southern Ontario every year because everyone I speak to who hunts them seems to throw out the number 100. I had one guy last year tell me that he himself had shot 190 and every weekend I would pass by his house on my way to do some m...

Re: turkey is over now time for some coyotes
I went the .243 route so I could have a multi purpose deer gun for when we do the rifle hunts up north. I am proficient with it and can shoot fantastic groupings at 450 and can hit a coyote size target at 675 yards 8 times out of 10 with my reloads. In total I hand called and shot 14 this winter and...

Re: turkey is over now time for some coyotes
Yeah I think I will go for a 17. Hmr :) Would you use a .222 on moose? I highly suggest going with the .243 over the .17 HMR for coyotes. They may be varmits but they deserve to be dropped with limited suffering. I own both of these calibers and have taken one coyote with the .17 at 40 yards. It dr...

Congratulations on your first hand called. I leave my million dollar Foxpro at home and bring my hand turned calls out. Looking back the E caller was a waste of money but it does a number on the crows.

Re: Any experience with .223 WSSM?
I spent 7 months in Afghanistan using and carrying 5.56 so I am not disagreeing with you for the sake of an arguement. There is many better choices than this caliber. I think one of the benefits is how many of the rounds you can carry due to size. Back to the subject at hand. Pydpiper I read that yo...

Re: Any experience with .223 WSSM?
My son-inlaw's police force is doing away with shotguns in their cars, and going to an assault rifle in 223 with a 50 grain bullet He says , a shot in the chest will do about 18inches. of internal damage they carry two 30 shot clips, He said it's a fantastic gun with unbelievable stopping power. I ...

If you want a hand thinning the coyotes out let me know. I am just around the corner. You can even blindfold me while driving there as not to reveal your spot.
