Re: Still Hunting = Frustration!
I hope to see a photo of your deer down by the end of the year. All good advice given, Good Luck! Thanks, I'll need it. Quite honestly, I think I'm going to need the whole horse up my butt, not just a single horseshoe, at this time of year with them yarding up already :D  You're killing me! I ...

Re: Still Hunting = Frustration!
When walking to stand or stalking I try to sound like a flock of turkey's cruising the bush I try to replicate hens and poults. Awesome! I'm going to try this on the next hunt and if it works I'll mail you some jerky. :D CH, I presume its a vertical bow and not a crossbow that you are hunting with?...

Re: this is the DEADLIEST braadhead made!!!
I found the measurements of the Toxic head and compared that to some 3 blade Rage heads I have here at home. Toxic head = 7/8" diameter, 5" of cutting surface Rage 3 blade = 1 3/8" diameter, 3" of cutting surface. While they're smaller than the Rage 3 blades, they will cut 2"...

Re: Still Hunting = Frustration!
Here's the result of the hunt where I got within 62 yards of them. Two in the foreground and the 3rd bed is between the trees in the upper left corner. They were bedded in a small 5 x 5 yard clearing in the bush, but you can kinda see how thick the cover is in the top of the picture. http://img.phot...

Re: Still Hunting = Frustration!
Many thanks for the encouragement and tips everyone, especially ninepointer who is giving me more credit than I think I deserve. I've always thought still hunting was a normal thing for deer hunters and figured I was just doing the same thing as everyone else. Guess not! As for the type of sno...

Re: Still Hunting = Frustration!
Forgot to mention today's hunt... I was out today and there were 2 deer in the spot I was hunting, but judging by the amount of snow coming down and the age of their tracks they vacated the small bush maybe 30-45 minutes before I arrived. I guess I should have left the house sooner  I decided ...

Still Hunting = Frustration!
Anyone else having difficulty sealing the deal in regards to still hunting/tracking deer with the bow? The last couple of years I've been forced to hunt public land and the deer at these area's are like a completely different animal when compared to those who inhabit private property. Last year it t...

Re: Who has a GoPro?
If you're going to attach it to the back of the boat to film wake boarding, make sure there is no chance for the tow rope to get looped around it.
Snap, twang, and then a splash 50ft away! Nope, they definitely don't float
I recommend water wings if you're using it on a boat...

Re: I've never seen a better ladder system
Clever idea, but I wouldn't use it. Every single knot needs to be tied perfectly and every step has the potential to slide/jolt loose due to rope stretch if you forget to inspect each one before use. The ropes would likely need to be replaced every season or two due to wear and sun/weather damage. F...

This is what made me ask in the first place.

Uncle Fester?
I haven't seen him here in a while and I was just browsing another forum where he posted a pic of himself with a nice buck that he shot with a *shudders* tenpoint crossbow yesterday. I haven't seen him post anything on here recently and he used to post quite a bit. As they say on the 102.1 radio sta...

Re: ? for those who use the rifleman rings
no loctite needed on any of those screws. your better off using a drop of oil and a torque wrench like a wheeler fat wrench. proper torque spec is whats prefered.you dont wanna crush the tube or leave ring marks. doesnt take much to hold a scope proper. using loctite just gums up the threads and ca...

Re: New cooler
Another vote for the Coleman Extreme 5 day cooler. I use one on my boat for holding fish and the ice blocks last so long that I often rinse and reuse the blocks for 2 or 3 trips. This is with the cooler being opened often and stored in direct sunlight all day. Blocks work far better than cubes, but ...

Has anyone with trigger work done or an aftermarket trigger taken the time to do a "before and after" range and accuracy report?

Re: Hawks Are Cool
Gotta love the big birds! I was researching falconry last year and looked into starting an apprenticeship, but those plans were squashed when I checked the bylaws and discovered that it's illegal to keep hawks and eagles in my city. It would be cool hunting crows, squirrels, rabbits, and wate...
