Re: Ground Blind Recommendations
I grabbed a Primos surround view 270 last year and it's awesome being nearly invisible from the outside but a great view form the inside. I never used blinds because I don't like the limited view, but the see through fabric changes this.

Re: Rangefinder or No Rangefinder
Definitely buy a range finder as it saves time, reduces scent in the area as you don't need to pace off distances, and they eliminate the guesswork. I'm better than most at range and length estimation (due to my job) and I have hit deer both high and low after assuming my range estimation was bang o...

Re: The Rut has started here.
Rut might be on north of toronto but it ain't on yet south of toronto. Saw 4 does and 3 bucks grazing in a field yesterday and the bucks paid no mind to the does. Then on my evening sit saw a few does and then just at dark one of the bucks I am after snuck by at 60 yards. Not one scrape yet and onl...

Aluminum vs Plastic Inserts?
Comparing rear inserts for the Zombie Slayers I am making up and am curious what most people are using. The aluminum are 18gr while plastic are 8gr I believe so there's a significant difference in weight. Will using either one make any difference at all in regards to accuracy? Is durability an issue...

Re: Unhappy Excalibur Owner
I am very sorry to hear about your limb problems. Excalibur will take care of you but no one wants that kind of hassle let alone during hunting season. I'm sure the Excalibur engineers are hard at work to find a permanent solution and I appreciate their efforts. They are pushing the envelope with s...

Re: Swacker problem
What you are seeing is why I don't shoot mechanicals . What was the accuracy of your Ramcats? Based on your tests so far, what will your confidence level be in the Swhacker when an actual deer shows up and you are not on a bench with a rest? Will you be tempted to peek over the scope to see if you ...

Re: Strata Assassin
Does this one share the same asinine MSRP of $1700 just like the original assassin or did they come to their senses and cut at least $500 off the price? Stores are selling them for a bit less, but $1800 CAD after taxes for a recurve is laughable.

Re: crossbow slick tricks
I ordered a pack of Slick Tricks when I bought my Exomax a long time ago and was impressed with their accuracy and consistency. Likely 10 different heads and a new crossbow later I am back to Slick Tricks. I wasted a bunch of money on trying to find something better when I should have stuck with the...

Re: Cerra coating
Seeing as both Teflon and Cerakote are used on frying pans and I have used a few of each type over the last couple years, I would say the Cerakote is by far more durable and non stick than Teflon. I haven't handled a firearm with Cerakote. How does the typical finish on firearms/parts compare to a f...

Re: Assassin String advice
This is also a totally new, redesigned trigger that may understandably have a few bugs to work out. Seeing as I had the same issue on my Bulldog 400 and roughly 12 year old Exomax, I think it's safe to say it's not something new. Many Excalibur bows have had this issue and Excalibur really needs to...

Re: Live feed of the unveiling of the new Excalibur Assassin
This thing sure is heavy at roughly 1 1/2 lbs heavier than the Bulldog 400, likely due to the integrated crank, and I would shy away from it for this reason alone. I am sure some who hunt from stands wouldn't mind the weight, but for those who cover plenty of ground that's a ton of extra weight to b...

Re: Silencing options
Attempting to quiet a crossbow is pointless for hunting purposes and can actually have a negative impact with the increased weight of the bow working against the shooter in offhand situations. What it comes down to is personal preference and how much money you want to spend so it's up to the individ...

Re: Has the rut started yet in your area?
Since my first post in this thread I have seen 4-5 more bucks cruising fields while driving around and I checked my trail cam yesterday with a few satellite bucks (bucks cruising new territory for does) moving through the area. Also, note the spike in bucks harvested by members on various forums ove...

Re: Hunting close to the house/back yard
I've had deer, turkey, and coyote within 40 yards of my back door along the bush line and there's zero reason (no food, water, etc) for them to be there. Seeing as you have two great sources of deer feed along your bush line, I would definitely have a stand and trail cam setup.

Re: Has the rut started yet in your area?
I'm in 90b (southern ontario) and have seen 4 bucks plus one that was road kill between today and yesterday while driving backroads. Yes, the rut has begun (seek/chase phase) as these 4 bucks definitely only had one thing on their minds. The last week of October always produces the most buck picture...
