If there was another hunter, I would have heard him come in because he would have had to fly in by helicopter...and he better see a urologist, because that piss in his scrapes was pretty smelly.

I forgot to mention that I did rattle a bit, and I put out some grunts, when I was tired of making doe calls.

Need advice on calling them in

I was in my ground blind, and for two days in a row, I had a nice long chat with the local bucks. On the first day, one was in front of me, sounded like about 100-150 yards. I replied to his grunts with a doe call for 20 minutes. He moved around, but did not come out of the dense bush. On the second...

I'm a skier and invested in some good socks for that sport. I buy them at the end of the season, usually for under $10.00. They are all polypropoline, and they are great. They wick the mositure, the keep me dry, and they are really easy to wash out and dry overnight. I also have some remington dark ...

I always figured that I would wait for a 25-30 yard shot with my exocet. However, I regularly practiced 40 yard shots, and I had great consistency. When I had my first buck in sight, I knew I could hit him, so I took the shot. I initially thought it was about 35 yards, but when I paced it off last w...

I have shortened up my string cocker, just by tying a knot in it on one side. I makes it easier for me to use. I uncock in the same manner but I hold the two handles in one hand and make sure that I pull up until there is no load on the trigger. Then I pull the triger with the other hand and let it ...

Scope bracket screws loosening

The hex head screws that hold the scope bracket on to my exocet have come loose twice now. that is two days in a row. The ones that loosen are the two on either side of the part of the trigger that holds the string. I'm sure there must be a lot of shock in that area. Has anyone else had a similar pr...

You made the right decision, and the hard decision. Look on the bright side, at least you got a look. And I'm sure it got your heart pounding. Much better than the days we go in and come back with out even a twig snap to get you excited.

I got a buck in Lindsay area on Sunday night. Saw three does with him. My buddy who lives there counted 37 deer in the field across the road about a week earlier. That's all at once. It's a bumper crop in WMU's 72 and 73.

That is absolutely beautiful. It will be a real pleasure for you to carry that in the woods, knowing that you made it yourself. I think that all of us hunters like to be as self-reliant as we can be, and crafting your own weapon (at least in part) is a real accomplishment. I do some woodworking, and...

I don't understand the point. Do you want it to be harder to hit your target?? Do you wish you missed the target entirely, or that you would make a few more slow kills? If you wish your shots were not so accruate, take one or two vanes off your fletching. Maybe you could sight with your bad eye. If ...

I know a pretty neat trick for fixing damaged fletching, and many other plastic parts. My pal is an auto mechanic. He showed me this with a bent nylon clip that held on an electrical fitting on my car. You just heat it up with a lighter, but don't get too close, and goes back to where it was molded....

Mission accomplished--Thanks guys

I got a nice big six pointer on Sunday night. It was my first day out, other than scouting. It was also the first time I had pointed my Exocet at an animal. Just at last light 3 does and a buck came into range. As I was waiting for a good shot, I was thinking about all of the great little bits of ad...

I looked at all the big store trailers, and honestly, they all looked like crap to me. They were all made of bent up sheet metal with very little structural steel. They were also very expensive. I went to Princess Auto in Mississauga, and bought a 2000 lb axle with springs, hubs and all for 173.00 C...
