Hi Guys, Thanks for all your replies and good advice. I was thinking of getting some sort of repellent before we knew about this bear, now I think it will be a priority!! The Ranger I spoke with didn't think there would be any danger, but you can never tell eh? Any advice on bear repellents w...

BIG surprise!
Thanks for that Lone wolf. I thought it looked like a juvenile, but wasn't sure. I was talking to a ranger tonight, and she said that the cubs stay with mum for around two years, and maybe ours was now on it's own. If you say it looks around 1 1/2 years old, then will mum be around??? The ranger sai...

Well, We got the trail cam set up last night and placed it near the apple bucket to get first hand evidence of the raccoon at last. I had seen him/it, but we wanted a picture. Anyway, when I looked at the camera this morning, it had taken 5 pics, so I was anxious to see them. I hooked up the camera ...

Got a trail cam!!
Hi guys, My Trail-cam arrived today! Just got to figure it out now. It seems to be a rather simple set up, but no doubt I will do something wrong!! I was surprised to find that there was no battery included, but I had one in a flash lamp, so i managed to put in the date etc. it advisers a bat...

Still busy in the East!
Hi Guys, Still awaiting my trail-cam. can't wait to get it set up. I have been into camera's for many years, both stills and video. i used to make movies of our fishing trips in England, and put them to music...that was great fun! Haven't done any for some time now, but may get it set up again. I've...

Some tracks this morning....?Raccoon!! Only ate a couple of apples this time, and only limited tracks, but certainly shouts raccoon! Nearly all the apples were left untouched. They were different apple's from the one's we have been using. (These are freebies from local park!!) I don't think our coon...

Thanks for the sewing thread tip Tar Heel, it sounds like a good ploy! Nothing turned up last night!! :x Wouldn't you just believe it? I have the ground laid out for some good imprints, and the apple stealer decides to give it a miss! But this "miss a night" has been happening all t...

Hi Guys, Well, at least I'm getting some laughs from this post! There were some faint tracks this morning, but nothing convincing. I would say they were about the size of a big dog, and there were two sizes. Approx 2 1/2 inches wide and 3 to 4 inches long. I took some pics, but they turned out...

Thanks Garyl, but I asked at Walmart here in Miramichi, and they never heard of them!!
There are a good few on line, but mainly in the States as far as I can tell. Maybe some of the other forum members know of some. I hope so.

I am now interested in purchasing a trail cam, but don't know anything about them. I would prefer a digital cam, but not too expensive. It's just for interest at the moment, to see what is roaming around here at night. Any info and reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to you guy...

Hi Pete and big dog, Thanks for your views. There are racoons on the property, but I didn't think they would be able to scoff a whole pale full of apples in a sitting?? Is this likely? It has happened twice now with a two night period of inactivity in between. The scat was laced with apple! It might...

Hi Woody, I agrre with you entirely! I am only a newbie to all forms of hunting, but wanted to use a crossbow...as my choice. Then I find that they are not even legal in NB. I wote to the minister down here, but never got an answer! Surprise, surprise!! So I wouldn't hold your breath if you are expe...

Hi Franklinm,
Thanks for that, but even with hard ground (not really) we put the soft garden soil all around the pale as you can see in the pic. Surely there would have been tracks in that?
