Re: Keeping up the interest during Times of Boredom

I like the part right after the hunter sees the moose and walks off, and the guide turns back to the camera and does this terribly evil chuckle. I had to go back and watch it again.

Re: my powder horn........

That is really cool! What do you use to carve off the outside of the horn? How do you make sure you don't go too deep? How do you carve out the inside so it will dispense powder and not hold it in cracks and crevices inside? And... How big of an explosion would it make if the whole thing were to go ...

RACK REPORT - ANTLERS ARE OFF!! Feb13

. ANTLERS ARE OFF, ANTLERS ARE DOWN, BUT antlers are buried deep in the snow... :( On my "observation herd" anyhow. Headed back out to the cemetery on Sunday afternoon. I was not able to make it at all this week or on Saturday. My whole desire with this little "experiment" was tw...

Re: RACK REPORT - with the deerly departed - Feb 5

In the picture behind the 2 fawns by the pile of logs I saw where the guy living on the other side of the fence had thrown some hay over for the deer, and I am told that some of the other people put out corn for them too. That doesn't keep every small bush and shrub from already having its bark stri...

RACK REPORT - with the deerly departed - Feb 5

. Went by the cemetery again on Saturday to check in with the resident boneheads. Once again, tons of deer, in the same corner of the cemetery, and the same two 8 points still packing bone! Also got better pictures of the one that is either a button buck or a small shed buck. Not sure which, take a ...

RACK REPORT - back to the bone yard Feb2

. Antlers are still holding on tight! It is Feb now, how much longer can they last? Had some time to stop by the cemetery again on Wednesday. While we did not see any groundhogs on their special day, we did see tons of deer. There were 2 bucks this time. The 8 point from last time, and a smaller 8 p...

RACK REPORT - Deer of the dead - more pics

RACK REPORT for the weekend FRI : saw a buck Fri night in a field, still had both his antlers SAT : There was an article in the London Free Press about 2 weeks ago about some deer that live in a cemetery in London. Had to go check it out. Also conveniently worked as my weekly check-up on shedding p...

Re: Ontario Elk Hunt

why not move them to other areas Dont remember the specifics on which herd it was, but a number of years back they did move one herd that was causing the most trouble, but they simply came back over a period of time. Same thing with deer; you move them, they find their way back. And as was stated: ...

Re: Coyote controversy

Wow, that article is stupid. That editor sounds like a rather dense soccer mom. "The coyote is a majestic animal." Has she ever seen one I wonder? Not that some of them don't look nice, just that an animal such as this is not the first to pop into mind when someone says "majestic anim...

What it looks like when a buck gets ready to shed his rack

Some may find this interesting, though I would post it. I found this buck right around this time of year last year when I was in the States http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Gm85oQQnNfY/TSsoWxOAtOI/AAAAAAAAA48/sXrOYzl7IXM/s512/DSCF4957.JPG He had been hit by a car, and his front leg was broken with the bone act...

Re: 1st Whitetail of 2011 ....

Maybe a push bar up front might end up on the next truck mod list. Ouch! better go with something up front! Couple of years back my Dad's boss had a Toyota truck on lease, and on the last day of the lease he was driving it in to his body shop to get it cleaned before returning it and he hit a turke...
