Question: 20 yard vs 50 yard Opportunities

I'm practicing my 25 - 50 yard shots and would like some input. When one is confident enough to take 50 yard shot so there is no question of ethics to do so, what are your opinions/experience as to the change of odds regarding the number of shootable deer opportunities?

Success!

I went down to a Mennonite farm near my place and we clamped the Exomax to the side of the barn, harnessed up a Clysdale horse and said giddy up. The Clysdale got the job half done and then lost it and was flipped into the barn. For future reference two Clysdale works fine. I now have a sticker on t...

Update

Okay, I bit the bullet and put some gloves on which helped keep the stringer from leaving 1/4" indents in my girly-hands and got the darn thing off but my lower back is screaming at me. I shortened it up and recocked the double darn thing and the string fits okay. I'm not sure when I'll be able...

Stringing Question

I have an exomax. I've done a search and read the posts on stringing and watched the video. I've attached the stringing aid and got the limbs bent and ready to string. Like others there is no where near the room to attach the string (bow was strung once). So I want to detach the stringing aid and sh...

Never underestimate an old guy! The old farmer had a large pond in the back, fixed up nicely; picnic tables, barbecue pit, horseshoe courts, along with some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built. One evening, the old guy decided to go down to...

Excalibur friendly blinds

Hi what do you guys (and gals?) recommend for a blind, preferably with built in chair that has enough room to wield a crossbow?

Thanks

Grasshopper replies . . .

Master, the pebbles are so far from my hand :) I'm simulating a sitting with back against the tree hunt. When I get that right at varied distances, I'll be in a tree. Later I'll try shooting while fighting ninjas. I'm looking for groupings that tell me what's realistic for me with this crossbow so t...

New Exomax

Had it a couple of weeks. Sighted in the scope and then I split one bolt with another and two near misses. Not bragging, I'm complaining. Now I know why there are several targets to aim at. I'm fine at 25 yards but just can't seem to get any consistent pattern at 35. Still in a kill zone (although I...

Bolt Puller?

Can you send me a link with a photo? I've never seen one. I did a google, archery "bolt puller" and got references but not a retail or photo.

Recommend a practice target.

Hi,

I just bought an Exomax and I want to buy a target. I don't know anything about targets and would appreciate some education. What to buy, what their limitations are etc. Anything you think would be appropriate.

Thanks

Scent -Hunting Clothes - Underwear and out and up from there

Would anyone that isn't hunting in the buff let me know scent control is working best. I want to after I hand wash/rinse, outdoor dry in descenting detergent start storing my stuff in a bin filled with leaves, cornstalks, soya bean plants, maybe a little dirt and some of the wild apples. Good idea o...

Tree Stand Ettiquette Plus

Help me out here as I'm new at this tree stand stuff. If you've put up a few tree stands and when you show up someone's sitting in one of them. How do you non lethally get them out of it. Will they know enough? What do you say and how do you say it so something stupid doesn't start and ruin so...

Hunting/fishing Logs

Do you find it a resource you turn to each year and does it help? Or is the self discipline of writing each hunt in itself a reinforcement of what works where and when? John,,,,, I keep one. I'm not a fisherman; so, it's just hunting. I keep it daily when hunting; but, I keep it yearly also. I do it...

Advertisers are the ones to contact.

I get a few listeners call in to my radio show and lose it right or wrong I don't sweat it. However, when the advertiser gets called by enough if postential buyers of their product, particulary if they cross advertise the same product in each mag, their ears perk up and if they get enough, you'll se...
