Not many rubs here, had tons of them last year at this time. I've got a large spike visiting a mock scrape that I keep fresh. No big bucks yet. Maybe when it gets a little colder. It's been too warm here in the NE.

LimbSaver makes a crossbow kit. I've already bought a pair of the Super LimbSavers to mount on the limbs. I'll see if that quiets things. :D

Aiming point for deer.

Should I aim low to allow for the deer jumping the string? Deer seem to crouch a few inches before they jump. My Phoenix is quite loud compared to my verticle bow. I think the extra noise makes them jump a little more when I shoot.

I've hunted ( mostly slept ) from a Summit Viper for a number of years. The bar across the front makes a good rest for your rifle/x-bow. It also keeps me from falling out of my seat when I go to sleep. Did I mention it was comfortable? :)

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. I'll go out tomorrow, and if there isn't a fair breeze in the right direction, I'll just go to my alternate stand.
Good hunting.

Human scent from tree stand.

I gotta question. It's forcast to rain tomorrow morning and get a little colder. Will my human scent drift downward from my stand ( +/- 15' high) due to the rain and the dropping barometer? I'm not sure what the wind will be doing at my stand. If there's zero wind, I'm thinking about hunting somewhe...

I wash everything in scent free soap. Then I put it all in large plastic bins with some fresh pine shavings. The morning of the hunt I wash myself in scent free soap , slip my camo over a Scent-Lock suit, and put on rubber boots. Then just to be sure, I hunt into the wind.

Decoys

Has anyone bought/used Renzo's decoys? Bass Pro has them, low price for a decoy but they're only 2 D. They do have a realistic photo finish.

I normally pace off the distance from my tree stand out to various landmarks. I bought a Nikon Rangefinder and have been using it too now. It seems to be very acurate.

I've seen 4, 6 and an 8 pt. bucks in my yard this summer and early fall. Now they seem to have disappeared. Maybe this is the October lull I've heard of.

That's a good article from Chuck adams. I shot my Phoenix at a target that was 17 yds slant range from a 15' high tree house. I didn't notice any big change in the POI. That was aiming dead center with my 20 yd sight.

I bought an ATV Hitch Haul from Cabela's ($80) for my Bigfoot. Never had the blood problem inside the vehicle.

I'm confused now. I better climb into my little boy's tree house a fire a few shots off. Nothing beats practice.

FYI, I shot a few arrows today. POI impact basically the same as my old string with the Gold Tips. Now have the Excel string and 2216 aluminum. Very pleased with the results. First three arrows in the kill zone @ 20 yds - 3" group. Guess I got all excited over nothing. Good hunting everyone.
