Re: Just had a visit from the MNR

Most states have an unlimited season on wild pigs. Hopefully they don't become established as they are in Saskatchewan but, if they do, MNR will establish an unlimited season in Canada as well.

Are there any other predators/overpopulated species which have open season yearround in Canada?

Re: Food plots

I am certainly no expert but, I think the only problem with that if you're planting brassicas, they will crowd out others because they grow so fast and produce a bio toxin that acts like a herbicide that inhibits growth of other plants. That bio toxin is not as powerful as a herbicide though. I no ...

Re: 2021 Season plans?

You're not kidding - 2021 Season IS coming fast this year. Bow opener is 01October here in Michigan. Working to get ready with my new-to-me Matrix 355 and Matrix 380. One of them will be used for my first 2021 harvest. Depending on situation, may keep shooting Matrix or go back to Vortex. Firearm se...

Re: Special run on discont. bows, would you buy?

That's was part of my point. The wide limber uses twice as much fiberglass for its limbs and twice as much aluminum for its mainframe, twice as much string material for its string. All other components being equal, why would you suggest it would cost less than a current micro ? Your statement about...

Re: Special run on discont. bows, would you buy?

Speed sells, and the market has responded! Looks what's available today. You can get compound crossbows (all scoped & with cranks) @ 380 FPS for $350 (PSE), 400FPS for $450 (Barnett), 425FPS for $470 (Centerpoint). That's ALOT for a $750 MicroMag 340 to compete with in the $350-$470 range. Again, al...

Re: Who Misses The Old Bows

Vortex was my first Excalibur and could easily have been my last. I was shopping for an Equinox (wanted a touch faster; didn't "need" faster, just wanted another Excalibur) while y'all kept harping about how great the Matrix series was, so now I have a 355 and 380 to complement the Vortex. Micros......

Re: RECOMMENDED SCOPE FOR GRZ2

I'd recommend an illuminated scope, especially if you're hunting in the woods where light fades more quickly than official dusk time.

I've got Hawke XB1 and Excalibur Twilight DLX (both illuminated) and love both of them! The DLX is longer like a traditional riflescope and gathers light nicely.

Exocet similar to ??

Looking at older Exocet model for $200 for buddy. Exocets have the same 200# draw as Exomag, Vortex, and Eclipse models. All four of these are 1st gen wide limbs. I have a Vortex. What were the differences vs Exocet? My Vortex has thumbhole stock, whereas Exocet has rifle stock. My Vortex has REDS s...

Re: Favorite Cold Weather Gear

Aren't those burns uncomfortable! Man I learned my lesson I didn't have the stick-on tow warmer version. Instead, sewed some pocket onto the back of my thermals so hand warmer could slide in. Got warm. Then really warm. Then really didn't feel a thing. Until I went to remove base layer, along with ...

First in my hands was the Wiebe VIXEN folding skinning knife at 39.99 usd INCLUDING 24 replaceable surgical-grade scalpel knife blades and holster. Lightweight , ergonomic and 7.5" open. The Wood handles make it look and feel more expensive, less costlier plastic Wiebe versions are available. I ver...

Skin tight wicking base layer ECWCS fleece layer (no idea what that stands for) Redhead tundra suede bibs and jacket. Fleece neck gator and beanie , thin gloves and a mitt muff. Thick merino wool socks. No cotton. I only use toe warmers, because they are adhesive. I stick one on each foot and one e...

I currently have three. But if one of them were a Twinstrike, I'd own four

Re: Just can't sit still!

Why would a 2x4x8 still be worth the same price is was 20 years ago? If you compounded 2.5% inflation to the price tag of a piece of lumber in 2000 to now ... We wouldn't be having this conversation. Without being disrespectful or sounding harsh, that is neither the correct question nor correct con...
