Re: Is This Really Archery Hunting?
We could use an AR in a sporting and ethical way during turkey season for ohh exactly 1 year...and then they would be gone:) Let me reverse the question back to you Strum... What qualifies this weapon to be allowed in Archery season, that (as stated) eliminates the 300 Win Mag? There's no "we s...

Re: Is This Really Archery Hunting?
The only reason anyone wants one is because they have some "notion" that because it shares the commonality of projectiles it will be allowed during ANY state's archery season and therefore giving them some sort of WOW factor with edge they just gained on all of us poor "twangers"...

Re: Is This Really Archery Hunting?
I would definitely oppose their use during archery season but would help get them approved for firearms season. In addition to this new weapon, there is a large push for .45 cal air rifles for deer and I support them as well but again due to definition of "firearm" I would limit its use to...

Re: Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
A couple more helpful points: The lens caps are awesome! They are a machined aluminum flip open style that should be standard on ALL scopes. I just like them and they fold completely flat unlike the Butler creek plastic ones which always break. I mounted these with Redfield Aluminum 30mm Med Rings 4...

Re: Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
Received my XB30 Pro's yesterday and decided to compare them side by side at dusk against my Twilight(s), Tact Zone and some Quality Riflescopes(Bushnell Elite 3200 & 4200's) in low light. For all comparisons I tested them on 3x as that's where speed of my bows fall into on them. After about an ...

Re: Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
FYI - The Navy did a study and Red light impacts your "night vision" the least. In fat you were supposed to wear red goggles around for 1/2 hour prior to assuming "lookout watch" to accelerate your transition to night vision. IME, looking back and forth between green crosshairs a...

Re: Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
Bringing the binocs would definitely help me identify the deer and decide if he's my shooter or not. And then even if the deer is hazy, I'll know that it's the deer I want. Even with my Twilights now I could've barely made these shot(s) but the big problem was I didn't have enough clarity/resoloutio...

Re: WHat Are Ya changin fer this Season ?
I've upgraded the optics on 2 of my Excals from Twilight scopes to XB30's in effort to extend my shooting time in the thick cover during early archery season. For late archery season and MZ use I've realized this year the value of a quality blind while hunting with my 9y/o, but it's REAL value when ...

I might try that this year as I have some really nice binoculars.robertyb wrote:I carry Swarovski 8.5X42 EL binoculars to identify what I am looking at. If it is light enough to shoot I can definitely identify him with them. Probably way after it is illegal to shoot also.

Re: Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
The stands I hunt demand illuminated crosshairs because the backdrop is almost black in th early bow season and the crosshairs all but vanish despite being able to see the deer well enough to shoot. Even with Bushnell Elites during gun season in the same stands, I can clearly see the deer, but the f...

Re: Crossbows on 3D courses
I'm fairly new to crossbows in general. I have been an avid traditional archery guy for the last 20 years. Most of my shooting has been at bags and 3D targets. I have taken one deer while hunting in the last three seasons with a crossbow. Are crossbows frowned upon by other non-crossbow members whe...

I just want to see one fly by my stand...I would definitely mount it next my biggest buck and talk about it for years:)

Hawke XB30 Pro vs Excal Twilight DLX
Want to hear opinions from anyone who has used both specifically in regards to "low light" comparisons. Currently I have Twilights on my 2 primary Excals and depend upon them to make long(40+) shots at the last mins of light. This is critical for me every year, and although the Twilight's ...

Re: Here is a good read i got off AT
Virtual soapboxes (aka internet) allow cowards to vomit ridiculous and uneducated ideals without the risk of being laughed at in public.... I think anyone can turn his notion around and apply it to the modern compound as well. Some people just live in their own nicely "compart-mentalized" ...
