surplus tags...

Hey fellas the MNR just uses this system as a cash grab. They say it is to cut down on deer numbers but then they run a sham system like this. If they were serious about having some success in cutting down numbers and controlling the herd they would sell half the tags the way they run it now and sen...

Amusing letter about when Govenment beuracracy goes nuts...

I'm not sure if this is an actual case or just something someone manufactured but it sure brought a smile to my face when I read it... The Dam This is an actual letter sent to a man named Ryan DeVries by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Quality, State of Pennsylvania. This guy's response...

Spooked Tom...

I just wondered if anyone knew how long a Tom will be spooked if he is shot at and missed. Will he move out of the area or will he just be spooked for a few hours or days? It seems to be this year the birds are either too far out or too close. Te one the other day was so close I should have had a ba...

Bill: You should try to get to a place called the Wolf's Den archery and hunting shop just after the season opens. There is a fellow there that processes birds as they come in (for a fee). He has the big drum plucker and puts them in boiling water and then plucks them in the drum. During the first w...

Re: Modified Vixen

Hey Buckshot:

Any chance you may be putting more stress on those Vixen limbs than they were designed for?
I would hate to see them snap and hurt somebody (probably the operator).
What did the tech crew at Excalibur say or did you check?

in the rut...

No doubt they were in the rut. A friend was lucky enough to score a nice little buck (8 pt) on his first time out scouting this year. He came upon the buck and another 4 point going from sapling to sapling rubbing. He was lucky enough to get a clear shot on the 8 pt and took it. The buck took off af...

Archery Moose hunt next year...

Is anyone on the forum familiar with WMU 21A or 19 in Northern Ontario. A group of us may try to set up an archery hunt for moose next season in this area. I am particularly interested in 21A. Is it accesible by truck (4X4) or mostly water? Are there fresh logging cuts around Jellicoe? Also the name...

another tip...

I have found in low light conditions it is sometimes difficult to tell if what you are looking at on the foilage is blood or not.
I take plenty of white kleenex and just touch what might be blood. It shows up well if it is blood.
Even works with dried blood if you dampen the kleenex.

Strange sighting in Ontario....

I was driving home last night in rural southern Ontario and had a Turkey hen cross in front of me leading 3 or 4 young turkeys. Is it normal for turkeys to be having a hatch this late in the summer? The young ones were not much bigger than domesticated chicks so they must have been a very recent hat...
