Re: Late Season Archery - The Ups & Downs

I think that is correct. You are almost as fast as Matt's bow but with 175gr more weight. That's = lots more momentum. You arrows will hit hard so you need a really good broadhead that won't get damaged. That's great!! I hope to have good passes similar to yours in the wild boars with that configur...

Re: Late Season Archery - The Ups & Downs

I just found this:
http://archerycalculator.com/archery-kinetic-energy-and-momentum-calculator/

580gr - 350fps = 0,90

Something is wrong? It seems too much to me.

Re: Late Season Archery - The Ups & Downs

......... But a 405gr out of my bow would go about 322fps = 0.57 kg m/s (momentum) A significant drop and that will continue to drop more down range as the 405gr arrow will slow faster than the 500gr arrow. Probably not get me the same result is my guess. Could you calculate 580 gr with 400 fps? Wh...

Re: OT: A New Pack Member

Ila could not believe her eyes when she wandered out back yesterday. Hanging from the back balcony was the first deer she had ever seen: https://i.imgur.com/kLSr0sh.jpg She was very nervous and full of trepidation at first. But when offered a little taste, she got right into the thick of things: ht...

Re: Late Season Archery - The Ups & Downs

They are here in the Upstate too. I always wonder if that's a function of me hunting, hunting pressure in general or just their behavior this time of year? :eusa-think: I don't understand anything about deer. But the wild boars here become much more nocturnal in the hunting season. When it is not h...

Re: Scratch what itches

Sometimes you have to scratch what itches. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/63965257203310443/ It is the disadvantage of not having hands or someone to scratch you. My wife in another life has been a bear because she always asks me to scratch her. I've been known to use a tree trunk and a br...

Re: Time is running out!

Earlier in the woods that day .... Okay, here's the plan... The Big Guy says, "Ralph, (next year's shooter), you put on that hair covered Kevlar vest Jane got you for Christmas. I want you to wear it just in case the pressure gets to him. He won't be able to see you're wearing it. He's...

Re: Time is running out!

Well, when it came down to the wire, 8 does came in, no target bucks and no culls. I can't shoot the young'ns and with all the bucks around it's likely that a doe will be pregnant. I don't want to kill next year's deer and I most certainly don't want to see a fetus roll out. While my hunting proper...
