The beard was 10 iches. He's turkey hunted since he was 9, but would get so nervous when one could come in that he would miss the shot. He has taken several deer with no problem. Sean's turkey beat my older son's by a little, but he didn't rub it in. The competiton between them is less now that my o...

Sean's First Turkey!
Son’s First Turkey: WOW! What a morning! Today is the first day of turkey season for youth in Virginia. I have taken Sean, my younger son, turkey hunting since he was nine years old. He could never harvest one even though I called them in to where the blind would shake when they gobbled. This mornin...

Crossbow turkey
That's the only way I plan to hunt my first one. Could have got one last year but used shotgun. After this deer season and my first deer with my Exomax, I know I have the accuracy to kill a turkey, especially from my blind. By the way, you just cant beat Big John's Turkey calls. Have had great succe...

Good buck hit, its dark...track or back off?
I shot a pretty good buck this evening with my muzzeloader at about 4:30 eastern time. I found bright red blood, but the blood was minimal. After about 150 yards of tracking, we found the last blood right at dark. What would you guys do??? Pursue the buck tonight or give him till the morning? Thanks

GAS PRICES GONE WIND!
Hurricane Ike has reached Southwest Virginia! Gas prices at the pump rose almost a dollar a gallon today as the cost a barrel hit around one hundred dollars. Gas lines are the common, almost like those in the 70's. Crazy people, in line like sheep for the slauter. This gives me second thoughts about...
