I quit cancer sticks 33 years ago when the price went up to $5 a carton. For cigarettes!! No way I was going to pay that. Last I looked, they were running 5 bucks a PACK. Today I'm saving at least $3650 a year just by not lighting up. :) Hmmm. Wonder why I still don't have any money?? Oh yeah. I got...

When I got my Vixen, I picked up a half dozen Cabela's Stalker X Bolts. Haven't tried broadheads with them yet, but they shoot darn well. I'm using 140 gn field points with them. I suspect they are the same thing as Easton Power Bolts, because they've got the www.bsafe.ws link printed on 'em and tha...

That's gotta be it! I'm 6'6" tall and I tend to get tangled up in tree branches rather worse than with briars. That's probably why limbs down works better for me. Sunovagun... That just turned into one of my DUH moments.

I'd just use what I've always done, those big rubber Bludgeon blunts. I've used judos for bunnies and squirrels but they have a tendency to punch right through and make a big mess.

How to Sling a Crossbow?

I doubt there's any right or wrong answer to this but I'm very new to carrying a crossbow on a sling. How do you carry? With the limbs up over your shoulder or down by your side? Or do you sling it crosswise over your back like a traditional back quiver? I started out with it slung limbs up and deci...

I'm an Army dad too. My soldier is in AIT and isn't going anywhere until mid-September at earliest. My prayers are with all our men and women in the service and their families, but I'll be sure to give your family special mention.

Drop doesn't give you much of a clue what you can expect when shooting at a 35 yard target with a 30 yard zero. Unfortunately, I don't know of any online resource that will give you a good trajectory prediction. At least, not any longer. Here's a link to a good tool on Steve Jackson's site. It it wi...

Cabela's

A story about how Cabela's stands by their products. About a month ago, I went to Cabela's store in Ft Worth to get a scope for my new Vixen. I'd intended to get a VariZone, but they didn't have any in stock. No LumiZones either. In fact, no crossbow scopes at all that would work on a Weaver style b...

Great shop area! I'm a retired machinist and the sight of the machines and piles of extrusions gives me the urge to make chips fly. :D

Thanks for the picks. Nice to see where my Vixen was born.
