Older Exocet

I have an older Exocet that I purchased new back in '94. At the time I believe the recommended bolt and broadhead was a 2117 bolt with a 125 gr. broadhead. That is what I have shot from the bow since purchasing it. This set up has worked well for me, but I understand that 2117's are no longer manufa...

Everybody I talk to is experiencing the same thing. The deer seem to be in a typical October pre-rut pattern. Any why not, the weather seems to be pretty typical October weather. Usually most years this time of year,in my locations, the deer are moving toward yarding areas and become less nocturnal a...

I've seen both scrapes and rubs. Land owners saw two decent bucks sparing on Saturday. I've tried rattling but have yet to have anything come in yet. I had a young doe came in to my grunt tube, this morning. She stood broad side at 25 yds. I passed this time. I put a small buck in the freezer the fi...

These tags are tags sold exclusively to those participating in controlled hunts. Controlled hunts are those hunts that you must apply for and can only participate in if selected. Many are shotgun only hunts, but I believe there are also muzzle loader and archery controlled hunts. Some of the WMU's t...

I'm located in Eastern Ontario and found my first scrape yesterday. Nearly had an opportunity at a small buck yesterday, as well. He came to about 35 yds. Little too far for may liking.

Scored This Morning

Took a nice 6 pt this morning. Hunted a new spot this morning. I got permission to hunt this spot last year but was only able to get there once. This morning I saw some place between 30 and 35 deer. Bucks, does and fawns. I didn't see any big boys, but I'm betting they are around. Looks like its goi...

In Kingston, I guess we're lucky. Our local Canadian Tire sells Excalibur bows and accessories. We have an exceptionally nice CTC here. The sporting goods dept, even sells boats, outboards, and four wheelers.

You are right, it is all rather confusing. First of all you do have to purchase a deer licence. With the purchase of that licence you can apply for an anterless permit for a sinlge WMU. The deadline for this draw is July 31.This licence will allow you to kill a buck anywhere in the province and an a...

I have a question. In the first round of purchases, from Aug. 8-21, your only allowed to purchase one additional tag. I assume the means one tage for any WMU and not one tage for each WMU. So you cannot purchase 3 tags, each for different WMU's. Is that correct?

You don't have to have applied for a doe tag. I don't think that you even have to have purchased a deer licence in order to purchase an additional tag, but in order for your additional tag to be condsidered valid you have to have purchased a deer licence. The additional tag on its own is not conside...

Additional Tag Brochure - Ontario Hunters

Just letting all Ontario hunters know that the additional tag brochure is available on the MNR website, under the fish & wildlife menu. It gives all the info you need (number of tags, number of tags per hunter per WMU, hunt codes, etc.). There are a few changes this year. Tags for restricted zon...

Bill on Wolfe Island

It was great to see Bill take a nice buck on Wolfe Island on Canada In The Rough. It looked like a well placed shot and a good tracking job. I've been hunting the island for 16 years and each year the hunting gets better and better. In fact Brown's Bay Inn, who hosted the Canada In the Rough show ha...
