Check out your local toy store this fall. I've used a plastic tobaggan for years to drag my deer out, using my safety harness instead of my hands. The tobaggan works well snow or no snow. For portability they also make a roll up plastic tobaggan (just a sheet. Drill some holes in it, tie your deer t...

Know what you mean Vix The front will zip completely closed but I don't see how you could do that and still get a rifle, much less a crossbow inside. The inside fabric is black, which is a good thing. I think you'd be pretty much limit to directly in front of the blind for shooting. Of course, witho...

Self Loading deer When my dad was still hunting and I couldn't get home to hunt with him, he and his hunting buddy (both in their 70's at the time) came up with an ingenious way to get the deer out of the woods and into the bed of the pickup. In the front of the bed they placed an eyebolt with a pul...

Chair Blind

Was in Bass Pro Shop last night and they have a chair blind for 90 + dollars. Best way to describe it is, it's a ground blind that just encloses a folding chair. It has side windows and the front opens up pretty wide. Anybody try using this thing with a crossbow? Thoughts?

OK, the people I know who've actually cut themselvews while field dressing a deer (myself included) never did it with a broadhead, they did it with their own knives. If you are concerned, the meatpacking industry actually uses a chain mail type glove for their butchers, seems to me I saw it once in ...

EZ Loader for Crossbow

Stumbled across this while surfing the net and thought some of you might be interested. Looks like a nifty little way to cock/uncock the crossbow.

Product Review - Plano Arrow Tube

Stumbled across this mid summer in a Bass Pro Shop catalog and had the local store order one in for me to see. I ended up purchasing it at about $15.00. If you're wondering what it looks like think of your Stanley Thermos on steriods. Pros: It's an expandable tube that goes from 24 5/8 inches to 39 ...

I was raised up under the "only kill what you are going to eat" philosophy and I pretty much adhere to that to this day. Coming from a family of hunters I can recall a number of times where there were five or six deer hanging waiting for us to butcher. Some even had antlers. :D I admire a ...

Griz, I can actually relate to most of what you describe. I spent 17 years inspecting coal mining and oil and gas exploration in PA. Heck, sometimes there wasn't even a road. You did leave one out...being stuck in a mudhole so deep that you had to crawl out of the window rather than open the door. T...

I'd settle for PA unpaving the road I live on and taking it off the map.
