I'm confused... I spent the first 28 years of my life living in a small town at the northeast corner of the state in the anthracite coal region. They called us "coal crackers" I spent the next 20 years of my life living in a small town along the Allegheny ridge. They call us "ridge ru...

Amen! Dan. You are 100% right. If we are trying to convince people we are shooting arhery equipment (and we are shooting archery equipment) we should not be confusing the matter of our projectiles and we should most definitely not be giving the opposing side ammunition, so to speak. As I said in my ...

Read an article a couple of years back (Horizontal Bowhunter?) describing the difference between bolts and arrows. Don't remember all the particulars, but bolts as I recall were relatively short 6-8 inches and had no fletching. What we shoot are definitely arrows.

Dan Hendricks & Ike Issacson - Eastern Outdoor Sports Sh

Had an opportunity to spend some time this morning talking with Dan Hendricks and Ike Issacson at the American Crossbow Federation Booth at the Eastern Outdoor Sports Show here in Harrisburg, PA. The show is billed as the largest outdoor show on the East Coast and claims 10 square miles of booths, e...

Wow! You guys are great! I appreciate all the advice. I only hope I have time to put it into practice. My primary goal with starting to turkey hunt this spring is to get out in the woods where I can sit and relax and put the rest of the world on hold. If I acomplish that, the hunt will be a success....

Advice on becoming a turkey hunter

Never really had an opportunity to hunt turkey in the past. Bagged most of my turkeys in the frozen food aisle. Sure I shot a few during fall season while hunting squirrels but never hunted them in the spring where you had to call them. Been watching the thread about favorite calls and I thought I'd...

Been following this thread closely (see previous post) and I notice several of you refer to these thieves as "other hunters". These aholes ARE NOT hunters and they are most certainly not sportsmen. They are thieves and lowlifes posing as hunters. A real hunter would never do such a thing t...

Had a similar situation a few years back on public land here. I put out three stands with ladders, everything locked on. The other bow hunters in the area new about my stands and knew they had permission to hunt then if I wasn't there. I started to miss little things, like say the ratchet strap that...

Don't know if it's okay or not. The site is a forum site much like this one but with many different outdoor forums not just crossbow. membership is free. They do have a bunch of neat emoticons. here's the link to the main page in case you want to check or join.

I live 10 minutes from Bass Pro and Gander Mtn. ; 1 hour from Cabelas. I enjoy going to the stores to window shop but I miss the more knowledgeable local stores I used to deal with before I moved here. Still, it does make it nice when you decide to buy a food vacuum sealer and can walk into a store ...
