Sidekick The numbers stand for diameter and wall thickness, e.g. 2219 is 22/64" OD and .019 thick or 19/1000 if you will. As far as the different alloys, some of them are made of higher PSI, but remember, this refers to the alloyed material and not necessarily the shaft itself, if my memoy serv...

I'm not sure about the 2.25" feathers, I'm trying 4" parabolic feathers and they seem to work alright. I'm interested in your front sight problem with your Phoenix, I believe I may have the same problem with mine. No matter what I've tried, it keeps creeping on me.

John, try this: www.wildernesshuntinglodge.com I know of several that have hunted there, and they enjoyed it. The rules of "fair chase" are adhered to. Also, you can use a guide or hunt on your own, at least that's my undersstanding, from several who have hunted there. Boar are also pretty...

Sidekick asked: "Do the new quivers come in "The Right Stuff" package." I think they do. I got that package with my Phoenix back in late January or early February, anyway, the quiver I got in the package had the screw "thingy", and two sets of rubber holders. Tye's righ...

Sounds great Tye. I've been reading about these scopes and think I should like to try one, if I could ever find one around here, and of course have the money at the same time! :(

Gentlemen, I'm kind of new at this, so please indulge me. Why would one put helical fletching on a crossbow bolt? Wouldn't this have a tendency to slow the bolt down? I seem to recall that traditional helical fletching was/is used to provide a more forgiving arrow to recover from "paradox"...

Gutpile & Mathias
Thank you. I am aware of the Crossbow seving material, but I can't find any around here. The .026 FF is doing an ok job, better than what I had on before. Who is Dan Miller and how do I contact him? I'm sure it's painfully obvious, I'm pretty new to this stuff.

Hello Mathias
I'm currently using Brownell's braided FF .026. Where does one get Kite-surf string? Perhaps you could point in the right direction.

Mathias, very interesting. You wouldn't be a ballistician would you? If I'm interpreting your graphs and tables correctly, it would seem that the optimum weight of the arrow would be around 400-430? and speed around 310-330 FPS? It would seem your curve is fairly even in this range?

Gutpile:
I have reserved my string as per your advice this morning, we'll see how it holds up. How would one re-serve the end loops if this becomes necessary?

Wabi Thanks for your reply and advice. Back in '69 or '70 maybe a little latter, I bought my first bow (Bear Kodiak Magnum) it took half my pay check. the bow cost a whooping $48 and matched arrows were $1.75 a piece! I practiced my form and was able to take several deer. Then things happened, life ...

I love the "Hill" country. My mother and father-in-law settled in Mason, which is just north of Fredricksburg. Unfortunately, they both passed on about five years ago. I haven' t been out there since the funerals. I had hoped to retire there, but now I don't know.

While hardly qualified to answer your question,(I've only had my bow for a few weeks), if you read the post below entitled "string longevity question", the gentlemen who are qualified, posted some links that explain how to do this and the apparatus involved.
