Walleye, I'm sure there are pretty of guys on here from up North who can answer better than me, but I'll take a stab at it and go with a XX 2219 tipped with a 125 grain Thunderhead. Not to many critters over 150 pounds in VA so the stock set up of GT II/100 grain broadhead will tackle any deer here....

I just finished shooting Thunderhead 100's, 125's and Muzzy MX-4 100's. The Muzzy's shoot good to 30 yards and then opened up to 6 inches at 40 yards-will not use them. Both Thunderheads shoot fine, I settled with the Thunderhead 100's, I am able to shoot less than 1" groups out to 40 yards. Rich

I want to say 6-8 years old. What a way to get started, shooting hogs at that young age. I've seen a few young ones grow up on hunting shows over the years, Guy Fitzgerald has been hunting with his dad for a long time. Ted Nugent's boy is really active on his shows. And now Jay Gregory of the Wild O...

Peter,

Yes to your question, they are safe. According to the chart on the home page, minimum bolt weight for both the X-Mag and Exocet is 350 grain.

I just sanded the halfmoons flat with my dremel tool and it worked fine. They fly consistent but about 6-8 inches different than my GT II's though.

CF,

What brand bolts are you using at 440 grains.

Thanks Rich

CF,

Any farmers your way have fields you can shoot for a daily fee. Looking to do some shooting without having to drive to FT AP Hill.

The Choice aired the other day on the Outdoor Channel. They had their son shooting hogs down in Florida using a 10 Point. Here is the schedule:

CF,

Haven't tried the ST's, I hear they are pretty hard to find though. I didsome shooting today with my Thunderheads, the 125's actually shoot a little tigher than the 100's. I may give the Muzzy's another try and readjust the sights, I like the 4 blades. Let me know about the ST's.

Adjusting the sights isn't the issue, I was sold on the fly the same as field points in high speed bows due to their profile. I shoot daily and still want to shoot field tips istead of broadheads, less wear and tear on targets and removal is easier.

Muzzy MX-4 performance

I purchased a pack of Muzzy MX-4 broadhead today to test. I figured they would shot good due to the short profile of the blades. At 20 yards they shoot @ 4" left and 4 inches low. Think I'll stick with the Thunderheads for now.

I picked up a tip on here that seems to extend my string life. Sorry I can't give credit to who posted it, but I wax the serving and then heat it with a hair dryer and melt the wax in the serving. Seems to last longer.

Glad to see another VA Excalibur owner. What part of VA are you from? I'm from Gloucester.

Marmot, Mine was the Excel string with green serving and tan loops, you'll know as soon as it pops off. It happened on the very first shoot after I installed it. When I compared it to the replacement Dan Miller sent me the end loops were bigger and the string was almost an inch longer. Don't know if...

I hear you Tom, just wanted to make sure it still shot tight after the repairs. I do love hearing them arrows smack together though. It'll be back to 1 shot now.
