Re: Lucky Day

My daughters birthday, November 1st, seems to produce for me. I will always be out for a morning hunt at the least.

My brothers swear by Halloween evening hunt and won't miss that date.

Re: arrow company question

Back in 2007 when I purchased my Phoenix, Easton aluminum shafts came with the package. I don't think Excalibur was selling a branded carbon shaft until the Firebolt came along. Which was a year or two after.....as I recall. I never did shoot the aluminum shafts opting to change to the GT Laser 2 an...

Re: Phoenix and Carbon Arrows

took my phoenix out today to set up broadheads, 100 grain slick tricks, for our Moose hunt in 4 weeks. Swapped out the field point for the broadhead and bang on out to 50 yards. As far as gains: Durability - I shoot a lot and don't have to worry about bending the shafts pulling out of targets. I mak...

Re: Broad Heads

Welcome to the forum Martin45.

I think a little more information may be needed.

- have you just changed broadheads to the Thunderhead and this resulted?
- does the same thing occur with field points?
- by weird, what do you mean?

Personnally I have never had good luck with Thunderheads.

Re: arrow weight

Just made up my arrows for moose trip in 5 weeks.

Laser II, brass insert, 100 grain Slick Tricks weighing in at 405 grains for my Phoenix.

Have never shot through a chronigraph with it but 2 inch groups at 50 yards.

I can live with that.

Re: Goldtip Laser II?

I always have used Laser II shafts and will continue until I destroy / lose what I have. That will be quite some time since my inventory is up around 12. The only concern I have with them is the inconsistency in the bare shaft weights. Some vary as much as 50 grains. I make my own and am quite picky...

Re: Huntfest, Orangeville

Schnarrfuss and I made an appearance yesterday as well. We were somewhat disappointed. Although Excalibur didn't have a booth setup we did run into a rep, wish I would have got his name, and were given an Excal window decal. Met Unclefester at the Vortex booth as well. My better half thought it was ...

Re: Blazers vs Quickspin

I opted for the Blazers. I tried the Quickspin with my vertical and although they did tighten my groups a bit I found the added resistence created a noticable hum when flying. I use the Blazers now with my Phoenix and Axe 6 with an offset only and this combination with the Slick Trick is working well.

Re: Brass Inserts

crap sorry guys i ment if i switch to the powerbolts, will that do the trick for increased KE? Increasing the weight should increase your KE. I use brass inserts with 125 bh to help stabilize fight on less than perfect days. Noticed a big difference beyond 30 yards. Your current setup will provide ...
