Re: Packing the Exomax
I haven’t snuck back to the forum in quite a while. The Exomax is the only crossbow I’ve ever owned. Rumor has it that there is some fine hunting in your vicinity. I’ve seen pictures of good deer from near there.I hunt Forever Wild land along the “Other” Sipsey southwest of you. That high water can ...

Re: Heading South
I lived in Chicago till 1967. My Dad had a friend that had a place in Eagle River, he rented cabins out during the summer. I used to spend several weeks every summer up there. Beautiful place and lots of fish.

Re: The quest for big foot
It’s great to have a specific buck to hunt, but it can also be quite humbling. The big guys seem to sense ones intentions.

It certainly seems to be a cultural issue. When in Rome or Vermont or wherever, do as is customary.

Re: New Aero hunting saddle
Ha! If I could catch one I outa be able to saddle it for sure! I tried posting a pict. and was advised it was too many bits. I've used a homemade hanging stand for many years that is basically a piece of padded plywood with strapping and ropes resting against a tree. This new fangled version resembl...

I haven't frequented the site lately but I was wondering if anyone has discussed/purchased the new Kestrel hunting saddle that just came out?

Harry Drake, who owns world records in several bow classes, established a record distance for crossbow in 1988 with a distance of 2,047 yds. & 2 inches. So don't give up!

Tree Bolts
Anyone here use a drill & 6" grade 8 bolts to climb trees? I know it's not legal on some properties but I highly recommend it when permissible. The hand drill I have was purchased some twenty years ago and was made by Jerry Simmons, a legendary bow hunter from Alabama. He used to sell a cli...

Re: spoiled meat
Our family has experimented over the years with variations on "controlled" aging. Our results seemed to mirror some rather extensive studies carried out by Texas A&M University several years ago. They concluded a quickly dispatched young doe aged 4-7 days was the best table fare. I gut...

If you were using regular alcohol vs denatured alcohol, then I suspect that was part of your issue. Regular alcohol contains an oily substance that will cause adhesion issues.

Re: Coyotes got to my 13 pointer before I did.
Very nice buck! Someone stated the fox population dwindles when yotes numbers grow. Researchers found a link between fewer fox and Lyme disease. Fox eat field mice which are a link in the tick life cycle that carries Lyme. Yotes don't eat them like the foxes do. Yet another reason to work on their n...
