Re: Safety Harness Don't buy a harness that riggers use. You need one that uses buckles, so that if you do fall and can't get back into your tree stand, you can undo the buckles and lower yourself down. If you have one of the rigger type harnesses, you cant undo them and if you are alone, you are in...

Air Canada charging $130.00 to check unrestricted firearms

Hello Guys:
Just found out that effective June 2006, Air Canada will be charging
$ 60.00 each way to ship your unrestricted firearms as checked luggage. This could impact crossbows as well so it would be prudent to write a letter to Air Canada objecting to this unnecessary policy.

firearm renewal certificate

I just received my new firearms permit in the mail today. I noticed at the bottom of the page that my renewal license was stuck to, a note saying that I must detach the bottom section of the page and keep it with my plastic license and produce both pieces if requested by a piece officer. I'm not sur...

self retracting lanyard

I bought one of these about three years ago and I really like it. It gives you lots of freedom and peace of mind when you are in your stand, and I hook onto it when I am climbing up. Mine has an 8 foot teather on it. I think you can get them with longer teathers , but this was all I could find when ...

TREESTAND SAFETY

Hi Tac: I use a full body harness and fasten it to a self retracting 8' lanyard mechanism. Its like a car safety belt. It has an eight foot tether on it. When I first start climbing my tree, I use the linemans portion of the harness for safety. When I reach the lanyard, I clip it to my harness and u...

I bought a lansky sharpening system a few years back and it's the best investment i've made in years. It uses a jig and various stones depending on how dull your knife is to start with. The jig guarantees the perfect angle on both sides of the blade. I use the 25 degree slot on the jig for a sharp b...

Deer Bones !!

I am sad to say that for most of my hunting career, I paid little attention to any left over bones from butchering me deer. Generally the butcher or I discarded the ones I didn't want until a German friend introduced me to something called "Glace d'Viande". Basically it is a bone soup made...
