Jim. Much depends upon what kind of ground you have. Is it sand? Clay? Loam? Is this a new spot or has it been into crops before? Have you done any soil tests? Let me add that you very well could have the same type of ground we have here, which is sandy ground that had never been farmed. The best th...

For some reason, reading that little story jogged my memory (sometimes not easy to do). Flashback to the 70's. Less than a year had passed since being promoted to manager for northern Michigan for a rather large company. Sundays I had made a habit that at 3:00 pm was the start of the new week. Playt...

Now that is a big time hurt for sure. I wonder if crossbow manufacturers should perhaps address this issue more than they do? Perhaps build in some sort of a guard to where one can not put the thumb or fingers in the way of the sting. It really would not take much. In fact, I plan on making a guard ...

Does flash from trail cam bother deer?
I was for many years of the group that always claimed the flash did not bother deer. After talking with a big name hunter who hunts in 3 states or more and has trail cams in each, he clued me in to the fact that indeed does and young bucks are not normally scared off by the flash. He then asked me w...

I too have Cuddeback trail cams. One is a flash and the other is IR. The IR had problems and they replaced. No problem with it now as it works fine except for the fact that the IR does not take at nearly the distance that it did before going bad. I think what Cuddeback did was that year they had big...

Let's talk targets
What do you use for a crossbow target? Looking at Cabelas, they have Morrell and The Block for crossbow targets. Morrell has two; one for field tips and one for broadheads. $45 and $55 The Block is $100. The Morrell field point target and the Block are almost identical in size and weight. The broadh...

I put solar panels on our motor home when we were going to Arizona for the winters. During December-February I would angle them at 45 degrees. Other times I just left them alone but there was a slant to the roof so they were not level. You will definitely get the most when the sun is high rather tha...
