Along these same lines, I've found that the ThermaCare products work great although they do cost more than the little heater packets. But they also cover a much greater area. The one I use a lot is the one for the back. Wrap it so it is on the lower back and it is good for an all day hunt and is sti...

Thanks fellas. Since starting this thread it seems to me somewhere I read an average deer reaction time is .067 or somewhere around that figure, but don't take that as an honest figure. It just came to me. May be right; may be wrong. What I'm looking at is, say a broadside shot and knowing that the ...

How far?
How far will a bolt fly at 300 fps before the deer actually hears the sound of the shot?
I know the speed of sound is 1125 fps but do not know what a deer's reaction time is but believe it is quite a bit under one second.

Yes, it is common to find does still giving milk even into December! However, do not worry too much about those fawns as they will get along just fine. For an example, one year we had a doe with twin fawns. In early June the doe was killed on the road. Those fawns were still pretty tiny, but they go...

That is great to have your wife hunt too. It should give you many happy moments and memories. Hopefully the kids will hunt too. My wife hunted for many years until physical problems caused her to have to stop. I miss having her out there. We had two sons and they both hunted also. Can you imagine, w...

Cook it for how long in the pressure canner? According to Mirro's book: Beef, Veal, Lamb, Pork (I assume venison to be the same as beef for this). Pint jars: After the control jiggles, cook for 75 minutes at 10 lbs pressure. Quarts: After the control jiggles, cook for 90 minutes at 10 lbs pressure....
