Finally!

Haven't seen a deer within range for the last 2 seasons until tonight. Doe came through the thick brush at about 4:00 pm and hung up looking behind her for 30 min. When she looked away from my direction I lifted my Exocet 175 to prep a shot at what I hoped would be a buck following her. Bumped the e...

problems w/ firebolts

Out yesterday to do a bit of practice w/exocet . I always use 2 bolts w/broadheads to aim in. Both bolts have Luminoc which seems to work some of the time. I tend to turn on the light as I load into crossbow. 1st shot high @ 50, 2nd shot same so I change speed on scope. Next 2 shots fine @ 50. I mov...

aim in rain

I too am colour blind , red /green , which makes retrieval difficult if tracking a blood trail. I use a blood light w/minimal success but I seem to be able to find blood in wet conditions by detecting a difference in the texture of blood vs water. I have on at least 2 occasions found a downed deer b...

I've seen one scrape and a few rubs on 1/2" trees. This is typical for our area . We usually don't see much until the 1st week of Nov and much more activity in the 2nd week.

too soon to rattle in S Ontario ?

I'm taking my 1st stand of the year on Sat morning in N Duham county sitting on the downhill edge of a corn field near a swamp where the bucks roam but are very nocturnal due to pressure. Is it too early to rattle? Any suggestions ? We always see does but have only taken 2 good bucks, ten pt 145 and...

I also wonder why they put Velcro on hunting gear. It's the loudest tearing sound I can imagine.
Remcloth: water proof and warm but the sound it makes spooks me as well as deer

the rut?

Finally saw a nice 8 pt this morning @ 1st light looking like he had his mind on something. Unfortunatley I am not hunting today, just had a coffee and watched from my home office. I was out yesterday still hunting the dense cedar swamp in the Brechin area and didn't see any rubs or scrapes. Hope to...
