For cutting the meat into cuts I prefer a simple fillet knife;sharpe, flexible and inexpensive. The extra time to de-bone the leg will make excellent hind cut steaks.Just dig the knife tip in and follow the outline of the bone to seperate. Then hold the slab of meat tight and slice out your steak cuts...

The local guys here bury their deer heads in the ground to the where the antler joins the skull. It's done in the late fall and early winter and approx. late spring the bugs and whatever have eaten the flesh, brains, etc. and only a slight bleaching is done and a european skull is the result.I suppose ...

Ryan,I've got a couple of decades expierence of metal fabrication also and when I make something for myself like the stand you want to make I get ideas from products that work and use their dimensions and add my own ,hopefully better, input to it.Like making the seat small to just lean back on and le...

I've used the string tracker for years both on my vertical bow and the crossbow.Never had a problem either way.Does make a hissing sound as the string unwinds on take off. Always had the deer fall within range of viewing them though.Except a decent 8 point that I buried a Muzzy in his front shoulder...

That's a real, raw deal there on the Horton.I just sold mine a Safari Express model that I had for 19 yrs. for 100 bucks.I never had a bit of trouble with it ,was satisfied quite well.I guess the guy that got it might have gotten a better quality crossbow than the new ones present. I went to the Exca...

Many years ago [17]after I felt confident with my archery shooting I would get a routine of making one shot at the target before leaving for work early in the morn.I enjoyed that and I felt it was an excellent indicator of my skill.I can remember I was quite happy with my shooting then, heck I even h...

Elkman,I think you would be better to get some DeerCane, the white powder stuff, out there instead of a scent product. The deer, doe and buck will make a habit of coming to the lick and hopefully you will be waiting. I've had tremendous results with that product,a fresh bag every year and your set.My ...

For the last couple of years I've been wanting a light set-up like that. This might as well be the year to "git it done".Would be a lot easier than sticking the mag light in my mouth to do tasks  3 Christmas's ago my sister bought all the young ones a cheaper version of that light to ...
