Re: see thru scope caps

When I ordered my scope caps from Danny Miller he mentioned that the scope caps at the proper size for the scope don't always close properly, which is what you guys are finding. he sent me the next size up and had me use electrical tape on the scope and fit them on with the build up of the tape. On...

Re: rangefinder mount

A big patch of Velcro. It's a bit bulky and it adds a little bit of weight off center - not that that ever bothered my aim and this would only affect you if you've got a side mount RF - not a top mount. It's always a concern when bush whacking as it tends to be like a sore toe - it gets stubbed all...

Re: see thru scope caps

I've tried 2 sets of the Butler Creek see thru caps and I've never been able to keep them closed. They go out of round and pop open seconds after you close them. I know some guys have had success with these but I haven't and have given up on them.

Re: rangefinder mount

Sure. I hunted with it last year but decided I'd rather have the rangefinder off this year.

Re: New tool for hunting

I'm a new believer too. If they work as good on mosquitoes as the do on blackflies i'll be happy. I felt bad for my puppy though. On Sunday morning she got eaten alive on her belly before the thermacell kicked in and the ground blind was cleared of the blackflies. On the bright side, my neighbour's ...

Re: Deer Decoys?

I was going to use my 3D target I had set up at my camp as a decoy last fall until I saw the neighbours' dogs mounting it and peeing on it's legs. I guess you could say it attracted dogs! Maybe I should try using it this year for wolf and yote hunting....

Re: Custom Crossbow Cases

Thanks guys. Saxman: I figured I'd put the badges on as part of the military tribute theme. Plus, I like to carry some kind of a memento from my Dad when hunting. The Airborne wings were his. He had 80+ jumps and serving with the Airborne for 6 years was the highlight of his 32 year military career....

Re: OT - Slug Barrels

Sabots out of a rifled barrel are my preferred way to go. But you need to research and test lots of different sabots to find which rounds give you the best groupings. Before getting my Mossy 535 Deer / Turkey / Duck combo, if I was going to be hunting in the thick stuff, I used to sometimes use a sm...

Custom Crossbow Cases

A while back a member had posted some pics of his custom crossbow case. This got me to thinking about my own design for a custom crossbow case. The rifle rack on the ATV tends to shred a standard soft case as it pulls the material and by the end of last deer season, my soft case was destroyed. I lik...

Re: March and into April ....

Great pictures as usual RJ. Some of them are downright spectacular. I always love your birds in flight or coming in for a landing close-ups. How you just happen to have the camera ready, spot and acquire the target, focus and snap always amazes me. Maybe it helps to have the camera around your neck ...

Re: its a little early in the season but...

Free meat in the freezer! I've hit 5 deer with my Dodge Ram and a huge buck with my crotch rocket. The Dodge took them all in stride with minimal damage. The bike and my body - not so much. I was just thankful I was able to manoever around and hit him in the rump instead of impaling myself on his hu...

Re: Easton Tracer nocks

I had bought some of the pre-Eastons as well and had thrown them in the tackle box. About 600 miles of rattling around in the truck later I went to install them and they were deader than doornails. I returned them and switched to Lumenocks. Either the electronics were very sensitive to rattling or t...

Re: Minimum arrow weight?

The website still shows 350 gr being used for the arrow selections - but not as the minimum. The manual PDFs still show 350 gr minimums for everything except the Vixen which has a 325 gr min (and doesn't include the Pixel and Apex). Here's the manual for the Exocet 200.
