gagnons sports
Well, still not looking good as to when Gagnons will re-open. Talking to a friend at work who knows Jerry Gagnon well, apparently the insurance company is holding out on them so they are unable to stock the shelves to allow for a proper opening. I will keep asking if any more info is available and m...

Just to clarify that my buddy saw deer before the shotgun hunt on the property and prior to the adjustments done to the fence to create the snapping sounds by barely touching the trees and also some of the electric fence was raised to about 6 feet high at key fence crossing areas. There has been ze...

Bunny huggers chasing the deer away
Just a question for you out there. A friend of mine from work shotgun hunted on his dad's farm in the Millbrook area as he usually does but a neighbour farmer objects to the idea of hunting of any kind. So he proceeds to make adjustments to his electric fence so it touches the trees and certain obj...

Almost had a turkey in my lap
Had a great day scouting today. Went to my main spot in Pontypool and saw a bird in the field when I came in but he or she saw me first. Couldn't get a look to id. Bumped into a raccon twice within ten minutes within about 20 feet both times. I think he was getting a little miffed. Then moved to ano...

turkey hunt preferred setupbroadhead vs.broadhead plus

Hey Digger...you beat me to the draw. :) . I went to Gagnons on the way to work and they didnt have the Zwickey Scorpios in stock but the fellow John at the archery desk said he'd look into it. I did find them at jesseshunting.com for $2.55 a pair and at eders.com for $3.50 a pair. They are called Sc...

Anyway, if you could get the arrow to not pass through and used a lighted moon nock like the Archers Flame I would think that that would definitely aid in game recovery. Seems like an excellent idea but when I looked at the site, I noted that the crossbow nock has a notch in it. do you know if they...

inserts
I would think that if you had the threaded inserts on both ends that if you ever missed  or made a pass through shot :D and put it into a tree or a log, etc. that an arrow puller would be threaded into it to help pull it back out. Would that be the case??? Also if you used the heavy brass inse...

You might want to check at Gagnon Sports in Oshawa. I have bought them there and seen them but call ahead and ask first. That is if you are local and it is worth your drive that is. They have been restocking and changing the store around a bit lately for the turkey hunt.

primos power crystal has worked many times for me. i can't seem to get it with a mouth call... bad gag reflex i guess. I've got one of these and a variety of picks that I use with it and it is my favourite call :D . It has amazing volume both loud and soft and with the different picks, I can get a ...

shedding their antlers
A buddy of mine got a monster doe today 'cept it had spare parts. . After closer examination his doe was a buck that had already shed his antlers. So if you're waiting for Mr. BIG, he may be in cognito by now.

Well I went out for a last hurrah today but same as everybody here I came up with my tag in my pocket. No fresh tracks since last Thursday's rain/snow. Too much crust and snow and they went to places unknown. Oh well good luck for those who hunt tomorrow. I unstrung my bow and getting my walleye and...
