I hunt NE wisconsin and had Earn a buck every season, since it's existance. We can prequalify for the next year, by shooting an antlerless deer, this year. I am prequlified for this year, but I believe the EAB is eliminated for this season. I'm retired, so I get to hunt nearly everyday. We also have...

Deer numbers

I bow hunt the NE part of state. We have Earn a Buck, crop damage, herd control, plus $2 bonus tags and two bonus doe tags with license. It makes for tough hunting. I saw a lot of young bucks, but the doe's are unbelievably wary after the first T zone hunt. The doe's ended up going nocturnal and so ...

Bucks chasing in NE Wisconsin

The bucks are chasing hard here in Norteast Wisconsin. The greatest activity seems to be in the mornings. I've been working, but have the rest of the week off. Guess where I'll be

Mobility

I've been using popup ground blinds for about ten years. I have a hub blind and it goes in with me and out with me. I converted an old golf cart, by removing the small wheels, with bicycle wheels. I go as far as possible with the cart, then shoulder it in. It keeps me from over using a spot.

Chair blinds

I have been using ground blinds for ten years with very good success. I have learned from trial and error what works and what doesn't. I looked at the chair blind. I was skeptical about the concept. When you have a chair attached to a blind, when you make any move, the whole blind will move. Game pi...

Our season ended last Sunday. I took another nice doe a week before. I put up a video camera in my blind and got it on video. This was my first attempt at videoing. Now I can watch my own show.
Now is the time to catch up on my "Honey do list" and gain points for next season.

Great info

I'll stay clear of the mechanicals. The wasp does the job. I'm just a worrier when I don't see blood. I have a sit and climb tree stand, but don't use it much anymore. I'm 66 and I'm not real comfortable up a tree anymore. I used the stand with the crossbow once last year and found it difficult to m...

Thanks again for the help

I appreciate the help and info. The wasp broadhead does the job, so I'll stick with it. I've gotten six deer in two years with that Phoenix. I wouldn't want to be deer, with an Excalibur in the woods.

Thanks for answering

I never thought about the difference between being in a tree and ground level. I haven't lost a deer because of no blood trail. I'm just a worrier that I may. I'm colorblind, so seeing blood on leaves is tough. I thought maybe a different broadhead would be better, but I see the ground level is the ...

Blood trail

I purchased a new Phoenix last year and it is an excellent crossbow. I have harvested numerous whitetails with it. I'm using the recommended broadhead, Wasp SST 100. The broadhead penetrates well, but leaves no blood trail. The wound seems to seal up, no matter where the hit is, in the boiler room. ...

Small stirrup

I have the Phoenix. I wear large boots (Mickey Mouse boots) for second season hunting. I can't get my boot in the stirrup to cock the bow or let it down. Is their a fix or a bigger stirrup, besides a crankeroo??? I'm sure someone else has had this problem, besides me. :?:

Blind zipper

I have a similiar problem. The zipper on mine closes, but won't open. It makes for an interesting exit, in the dark. I have to yank on each side to get it to go up. Now if we could find a zipper expet somewhere.

It works great for me

I use it for deer hunting in all weather conditions. I bought some a few years ago. The hot weather set, seemed to cool me too much, even in hot weather. I'm a small person, so maybe someone with more mass it would work better. I prefer the midweight or temp (can't remember) worked the best for all ...

I purchased a new Phoenix last year. This was my first crossbow and knew next to nothing about them. The guys and gals on this forum got me
up and running fast. I harvested two does and an eight point my first year, thanks to all.
A great group
