Disgusted. That about explains how I feel right now. This morning my son and I took my dog on a leash for a Sunday morning walk in the woods. [No Sunday hunting in VA, yet] My dog is an expert at recovering downed deer. If you have a couple hours, he will find a downed deer or two every time. Even i...

Bad hit by my son, going back out tomorrow
I took my son (age 11) out this afternoon after all the rain finally moved through. Instead of sitting in a stand I took him up to the high ridge and sat on the same log I bagged my 9-pointer last Saturday. We didn't get there until almost 3pm. He gets bored quickly so I introduced him to whittling ...

Good luck to you and your kids BU. It just doesn't get any better than when having a kid along. Bagging anything is just an awesome bonus. Last year was first full season for my son (11) to deer hunt with me. He bagged a doe and button buck with my Exomax in one hunt and then bagged one with a muzzl...

Bucks on the move in Virginia
On my way home from work today I drove near my hunting grounds. As I turned off the main road a doe ran across the road and out into a pasture. A small buck, about a 4-pt, came out of the woods and chased her all over the place. He paid no attention to my vehicle at all. As the doe ran back toward t...

Kristen, 1 of the 6 in my box was the same. I think it just needed cleaning out with a tap. Since I didn't have a tap (or was too lazy to look) I just used a field point. Actually it wasn't that bad. I was able to screw it in all the way by hand but it was tight. Once I got the threads cleaned out e...

I bought a new pack of Excalibur bolts from Basspro.com the first week of October and got the Easton Firebolts. Based on other posts I knew they were heavier so I did not immediately start using them until my GT-II were running short. As expected, the only difference in flight is the Easton arrows s...

TYE, But if you order them now, you will get the same old Excalibur 'The Right Stuff' box from BassPro with Easton Firebolt's inside. :) I heard from others that BassPro was carrying them. I ordered the standard Excalibur carbon bolts the first week of October and got Eastons in the box. tws75, A 9-...

I though about my scent routine the other day and noticed some issues. Step 1) Shower with scent eliminating shampoo and body wash. Step 2) Dry off with a towel that smells springtime flower fresh. (Now I smell like flowers.) Step 3) Put on ScentLok clothes. Step 4) Spray boots with fresh earth cove...

All of the above. I have a climber, a hang-on with climbing sticks and three two-person fixed stands to choose from. I've killed deer out of every one of them. As much as like stand hunting, nothing beats being right down on the ground with the game. Now that I think of it, the largest bucks I have ...

Basspro.com is shipping the Easton Firebolts. I ordered a box of the Excalibur bolts the first week of October and was pleasantly surprised that they are now shipping the Eastons. The buck I shot Saturday was with a Firebolt. Here is a link: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_1...

I haven't seen a scrape yet, but have found lots of rubs in my area. At least 50 in total. None of the rubs look large, but there sure are a lot of them. I have noticed deer moving at all hours of the day this whole month. There seems to be more movement in mid-morning than early. All of my shots fi...
