Re: Longer Turkey Season
Hey Phoenix Tom, I noticed that you are eastern Ontario. Should I assume that you are in the Alexandria area. If so, we're practically neighbors. I live about 15 minutes west of the Ontario border in Hudson,Q.C.

Re: Longer Turkey Season
Imagine that if you saw 50 or 100 on the property that you hunt that most every year after the population should increase as long as the conditions are right. :D It is shameful that the government here did not jump on the bandwagon with our neighbors to help reintroduce the wild turkeys that were on...

Re: Longer Turkey Season
I remember that it was about four years ago that we started to see the turkeys around here and then BOOM...they were everywhere! While deer hunting late in the season last fall, I counted 21 hens together that walked right by my stand, including a very light greyish colored henthat is considered alb...

Longer Turkey Season
I'm very excited that here in Quebec, our turkey hunting season has doubled in length. For those of you that are unaware, Quebec, has never had to my knowledge, a program to reintroduce wild turkey that were once native to this area. We relied on turkey programs from the northern U.S. and Ontario to...

Re: saw whet owl
I had an owl circling me overhead like he was going to dig his talons in my head one evening going back to my truck after an afternoon hunt. Very impressed on its stealthness. Glad to hear that your guy will be ok.

Thanks for sharing your pics and story. I personally respect ALL forms of hunting whether it's X-bow or rifle. It's all about respect for our wildlife no matter which way you hunt. Glad you finally got your doe.

Re: Hog Hunting in Arcadia Florida
I was going to go to Ron's Guide service when I was down there during Xmas but apparently my girlfriend thought differently.
Since it was supposed to be a getaway for both of us...... I thought that it would be wise to NOT go.... this time!!!!

Re: Well how well did you do?
Textbook shot at 20 yards but made the rookie mistake to not let the doe expire before I decended my treestand. I spooked it and never recovered it!

Re: RECURVE OR COMPOUND
A recurve goes along with most things that I believe in which is to say "Keep it Simple"!!
With a recurve you have reliability, accuracy and pretty much maintenance free.
Simple is the way to go in my opinion.

Re: When's your best part of the deer season?
I have to agree that opening day until around mid-November. I don't really like the cold while sitting in a treestand and stalking or moving around is out of the question for me because of different property boundries where I hunt. I just look for meat in the freezer. Because of where I hunt my opti...

Re: Curious who uses aluminum versus carbon shafts
After trying both aluminum and carbon in my Phoenix, I noticed that the aluminum arrow was extremely slow and dropped very quickly. I look for accuracy and speed with as little drop as possible. Also, I don't believe that carbon arrows can bend and stay bent. You can bend an aluminum arrow just by r...
