Re: Toronto Sportmen's Show

I was working the OAA shooting range Friday afternoon. Lots of fun teaching the kids to shoot. It's always a treat to see how excited they get when they hit the bullseye or the elk target. :)

Just missed running into Boo also, apparently. I see where the Bow Shop is now carrying Boo strings.

Re: camo rail

You could try camo tape along the sides of the rail, leaving the top smooth.

Re: crossbow target practice in city limits

There are also people who have been arrested and charged in some cities.

Assume it's illegal until you know for sure, and if it turns out it is legal, get something in writing so you can show people who don't know.

And if it is legal, make sure your range is 100% safe!

Re: 37 Reasons It's Great To Be A Man

Well I can agree with a few but I must not be your average gal because I HATE shopping unless it is CDN Tire or a sports store, I could care less what I wear most of the time, rubber boots are cool and comfortable, weddings are a royal waste of money and so is any piece of clothing over $50 unless ...

Re: Shoot for the Cure

I'm surprised we haven't seen any pics of the head shaving on any of the archery forums that Ontario shooters hang out at. There were enough people filming it. They even saved a nice ponytail for donation to wig-makers for women who have lost their hair due to chemo... He said it was 16 ye...

Re: Shoot for the Cure

I was there for the Saturday - I saw your orange bow hanging on the wall, wheelie, but didn't see you. Lots of people milling around. Did anyone stay for the head-shaving ceremony?

They apparently raised oner $8000.

Re: Understanding Carbon Arrows!

Just a clarification to the thread topic: There is a difference between "carbon composite" and "aluminum/carbon composite". Most of what we generally call "carbon" arrows are actually carbon composites - a blend of carbon fibers in a matrix of resins and glues. Firebolt...

Re: Excalibur shipping time

The order time will vary depending on the situation. I don't speak for Excalibur so I can't say what your dealer's situation is. If he's a regular stocking dealer in Canada with an established account, the bow should not take more than a couple of days. On the other end of the extreme, if he's a US ...

Re: Sighting in the varizone scope

Super fast way to approximately sight your bow in, with only 2 shots: You need a solid bench rest and a 50 yard target range. Put a small aiming dot on your target bag/block. Adjust the scope ring so it's set at the approximate speed of your arrow. You don't have to be right on (or even close, actua...

Re: ot just like most of use start with a cooey

Hey munch:

I still have the original scope that came with my Cooey (little tiny Bushnell 4X Custom .22). It's small, doesn't look like a varmint rifle scope, but your daughter is welcome to it if you want it.

Re: ot just like most of use start with a cooey

I've got one too, a Cooey 600, tube magazine. Had it for well over 40 years, still shoot it once or twice a year. According to the link munch posted, it's "Post-1961 Cooey firearms made by Winchester include: Model 10, Model 39, Model 60, Model 600, Model 64,...". Says on it "Made in ...

Re: At what point is a bow "too fast"?

Everyone (Canadians, anyways) throws around that 500 fps rule, but I don't think it would apply to crossbows. From the same RCMP website I mentioned earlier: Following are some weapons and devices that meet the definition of a firearm but that are deemed not to be firearms for purposes of the Firear...

Re: At what point is a bow "too fast"?

It would be interesting and benificial to this discussion if someone had facts on the relationship between various speed and a deer's reaction to set a description of what speed means to archery. Here are some numbers to get people thinking about what extra speed in a crossbow really means under de...
