Re: Cheap Broadheads??

Thanks for all the replies. I'll pick up a pack of the Muzzy's and a pack of the SlickTricks and see what works best out of my old slow Exocet 165. As slow as it is compared to all the new bows I can probably shoot anything and get it to group. Haven't tried the Lumenoks yet but it may be time. Do t...

Re: Cheap Broadheads??

It's not a resharpen problem, it's more of a once I pull the trigger I never see the arrow again thing. I am going to borrow a metal detector and see if I can find some of them that way. I just don't want to start paying $13 per broadhead unless I have to.

Cheap Broadheads??

Been using 100 gr Wasp Hammer SSTs and they are working great but instead of 6 for $36 they are now 3 for $37. Not sure why the price increase but I don't like it. Where I hunt unless the arrow stays in the deer I never find them and if I hit a limb or just miss they are gone, also. It's bad enough ...

Thanks for all the kind comments. I don't think persistence is the right word, though. More like just sheer stubbornness. I've shot under deer, over deer, had arrows deflected, etc. Any way you could possibly mess it up I have. Finally had everything come together and it was amazing. Got so excited ...

6 Point Buck - Wasp 3-Blade fixed that came in the accessory package 5 or 6 years ago.

15 yard shot. Right behind the shoulder. Top of right lung and middle of left lung. Ran about 100 yards. Blood trail easy to follow.

Sumner, I was using the broadheads that came in the accessory package. Had them so long I'm not sure which ones they are. Wasp something or another. Pretty impressive hole in and out the other side. LondonDave, I've got pics but not sure how to upload them. I'm not positive I can from work even if I...

First Bow Buck

Finally, After 10 years of bow hunting with a compound and 10 with my Exocet a buck finally got close enough I couldn't screw it up. Got a small 6-pointer at 12 yards. Went about 100 yards with a trail even I could follow. It is absolutely amazing to finally do this with a bow. Thanks to Bill T and ...

Wabi,

At least you are seeing deer. I've been six times this year and the only deer I've seen went across my front yard last night while I was sitting at the table eating dinner. However, my wife considers those the neighborhood pets and they are off limits.

I hunt on public land only, and don't dare leave a stand up so every time in and at the end of the day it all gets packed up and carried. Stand and rapid rails or a climber depending on where I'm going is around 22 pounds. Safety harness adds some more. Backpack with miscellaneous stuff I don't want...

Guys, Thanks for all the advice. First time I've had any chigger problem in 5 or 6 years. I'm not sure what happened but I definitely wandered into an infested area. I lost count on my right leg when I got to 30 bites and I was still below the knee. Grizz: I agree that you can't eliminate all of the...

Looks good but what about the sulfur? Doesn't it have an odor to it that the deer can smell? The only sulfur I've ever been around I could smell and I know the deer can smell better than I can.

Insect Repellant Question

Guys, I went to a new spot this past weekend and got absolutely eaten up by chiggers. This spot has more promise than anywhere I've been lately so I will be going back but I can't deal with all the bites. I'm sitting here scratching as I type this. So I need recommendations on what kind of bug spray...

Country, If you don't put on a jacket until it's below 20 you are one tough dude. If it's below 20 I look like one of the old Peanuts cartoons where Charlie Brown has fallen on the ice and can't get up because he's got so many clothes on. For me light jackets come on if it's below 50. Below 40 I'm u...

It's not that I'm overly concerned about the scent. The problem is that if it's cold enough that I need the extra clothes I've only got to walk about 100 yards and I'm soaking wet with sweat. Out of shape would be a good way to describe it. One of the places I hunt it's a little over 3/4 of a mile t...
