Re: out of season rut or casual sex?
Thanks for all the replies guys. I enjoyed reading your post as much as i enjoyed making the title. one excal's post about the photo period had me thinking so i pulled out the charts and right now the sunlight time is within about fifteen minutes of November rut times. So maybe the late fawn coming ...

out of season rut or casual sex?
My cousin lives by a urban wooded area here in NW Ohio. He said last night he seen a buck messing with a doe, and then to his surprise the buck mounted the doe. He said it lasted for a while and didn't just seem like play or a dominance act. Question is, have you ever heard of deer breeding in the m...

Re: waiting over night
I have had to leave a couple deer in the woods overnight also, mainly for doubt in shot and fear of pushing the deer. I think the meat is ok to eat, but I dislike it. I have noticed a difference between a freshly field dressed and cooled, with ice or a cooler has a much better taste, no "game&q...

Re: everyone please read..
The first year I had my excalibur I did it twice! Lucky for me both times I had my steel toes on from work. It's a very unsettling feeling when you do it.

Re: would you shoot one?????
I do not pursue them, but have taken them in the past and will again in the future. Not a freezer filler but plenty more on them then a squirrel or rabbit! They are also free of any game taste, feed it to anyone and they never know.

Re: Mounting Video camera on bow ??
I have done it and it works pretty . If you want a still shot of the arrow going in it takes about a minimum of a twenty yard shot for the image to stabilize from the recoil. But that is only about two tenths of a second worth of footage. I used the Excal range finder mount and then made up a piece ...

Re: Solar power
Boo.. Dow is just releasing to the market this year a solar shingle that any general roofer can install on a house. They are designed to be a alternative to the traditional 2*4 glass encapsulated panels that are costly. They are supposed to have a thirty year warranty on them and have a a lot shorte...

Re: Arkansas Bears
Boo chooses not to play this game because sometimes the other team is way too rough!   Exactly why I enjoy hunting in Ohio and not going out west or swimming in the Ocean! I like in my area being at the top of the food chain is easy. Going bear hunting puts ones self back into...

Re: Cost of tags
Just for interest here's what it will cost a non-resident in Ohio. Non-Resident Hunting $125.00 Deer Permt - Antlerless Only(6) $90.00 Deer Permit - Either Sex $24.00 I know there has to be a reason behind it, but have never understood why the non resident is so high. I think a lot of states do it....

Re: Cost of tags
Ohio... $19 for Resident Hunting license $24 for Deer tag buck or doe, only one buck per season $14 for doe tag during archery season and some limited gun seasons, but you first have to buy a $24 tag before you buy a $14 tag, but you can save the $24 dollar tag for gun season and use the $14 first i...

Re: Who else loves hunting in the rain?
I don't mind a light rain, but I leave if its coming down in buckets. I have wanted to sit during a rain hunt and be there when it stops, but just have not had it work out yet for that.

Re: old forum members never die, they just fade away......
To be perfectly honest there is too much politics and baiting happening recently by a very few and a couple of newer individuals with just a couple of hundred posts. I think I help quiet a few here both with information and other things I won't mention. So it deeply disturbs me! I talk to quite a f...

Liver shot FYI post
Just wanted to post this as a FYI for anyone doing a search on liver shots. I had a friend shoot a nice eight point last week, probably around 120 to 130 class. It was thirty yards broadside and after field dressing no lung and center in the liver with a little bit of stomach getting hit but just a ...
