Does this analogy work? A swimming pool is like the animal you shoot. An animal is made up of mostly water. Dive straight down into the pool and you are like an arrow. You can reach the bottom in a heartbeat. Now take that same body of yours (same mass/weight) and turn it into a cannonball (like a r...

Boogap, lethal injection is very humane. I have witnessed it thousands of times. It takes less than 2 seconds for the euthanol to work. The only pain is from a needle puncture, which in many cases is overshadowed by something far more painful. Drowning is not humane. Have you ever had a near drownin...

How much are the extra tags in comparison to the first? I thought they were the same price. If the tags are no more expensive than the first then no big deal. Still pretty cheap when you think of how much it would cost to buy that much quality meat from the grocery store. All licence fees are suppos...

Transplant a fisher! Earlier this year, while the snow was still on the ground, I came across 6 porqupine carcasses, devoid of flesh and limbs. When I returned, during turkey season, I discovered another dozen or so. I have seen very few porqupines since the fisher came to this area. It use to be th...

Purple Loosetrife on the way out?
Maybe they have yet to flower and therefore I have not noticed them. But I recall a few years back driving up north along hwy400 and seeing the plant almost everywhere. Is that beetle working and eating them? It would be nice if this were true and the native wetland plants can reclaim what they had ...

I have no doubt that the 45-70 could be used for pretty much any game animal on the planet. With enough time and money, I've often thought that I would like to try and hunt all the North American big game animals with this round. And maybe, if I had enough money/time, I would do the same with my Exo...

Too early for the countdown to deer season?
66 days between today and the opener here in southern Ontario. Fortunately there is some waterfowling to do before that, and a crossbow shoot with Big Bear to get in shape for the deer.
I guess I can reread all the deer hunting books/articles as a refresher.

The starlings, for the most part seem to be avoiding our backyard. It seems that our Canadian flag flapping in the breeze is enough to deter them. On my way to work this am there was a water truck hosing down the street behind us(I'm assuming to clean up the droppings, as other streets were not wate...
