Re: Support an Ontario Spring Bear Hunt
This is nuts! I haven't been on this forum regularily for a while, now it seems difficult to find a post that isn't being derailed by a basically anonymous person. There have been a lot of great folks on this forum, who's intentions and character helped to make this forum a special place to visit. A...

Re: Canadian Archers for a Cause - Colby Classic!
Moni invited me via Facebook. I managed to get a spot for the Saturday 12:15 line. I don't shoot very often at all, I am a hunter not a target shooter. Lol It took a while before I got rid of the caffeine jitters and settled down. The first 30 shots were not great, only 6 x's. the second half, after...

Re: Top Mount Quiver????
Fellow forum member Ecoaster bought two groundpounder mounts many moons ago (2004/2005) and gave one to me. Way better than the position of the factory quiver mount!! You could sit in a tree with the quiver attached and rest the bow in your lap. No more torque pulling the bow down. Fit in the bow ca...

Re: Bear Hunting in Ontario
Although the chances of an attack are very remote, when I was hunting bear with my crossbow, I would have a shotgun at the bottom of the tree for when I got down at the end of the day just in case. Bear spray isn't a bad idea either.

Re: How long before your first archery deer?
Wasn't until my second season of hunting with my Exocet that I was able to put a doe down. My first season I wounded a nice buck by taking a stupid shot, also passed on a black bear earlier that fall. Lessons learned!

The best way to create a blood trail?
With Bloodtrail Ale arrows of course!! Got Big John to make me up some real sweet looking arrows. I've used johns arrows exclusively for several years, tough to beat the best!! Treestep WARNING!!
Be careful of treesteps purchased from Canadian Tire(perhaps available elsewhere). The grey ones with a longer than normal "step". Made by Parkland Treesteps. I just put them into a tree and started to climb to retrieve a stand, when I heard PING, the sound of metal seperating, as well I d...

Re: JOHN HUNT PASSES WELL HUNTING BEAR
John was 43, and on location at Wolfs Creek Lodge, for a bear hunt, when he started to have troubles.
I did get a chance to meet him at a fundraiser, and saw him at "Huntfest" this past July. He was a stand-up guy, with a big heart.

Re: BBQ/Smoker Build #2
Like the others said, safety glasses for sure. I'd even say gloves wouldn't hurt. Those angle grinders can be unforgiving. I've seen enough folks get sliced to know that by the time you realize something has gone wrong it is too late. You must have read my mind.....I have had plans to build a BBQ/sm...

Re: Foiled break in attempt.
I am glad that the perp never got anything. Oh it would have been so nice to see that perp with that Big Boy on his arm, now that may have really slowed that perp down from getting to someone else. I hope you make a report to the police and let all your neighbors know of what went on this morning. ...
