Great job, but sssshhhhhh....................we need to keep our Virginia secret. No, I am proud to say that many parts of Va. are getting a quality buck herd. Hey, what county? I see the dog boxes so it must be in Eastern Va.

Lot easier to tote a video camera out of a creek bottom than it is a big 8 pointer. I got about 10 minutes of video of a 1.5 year old 7 pointer Monday afternoon, and......my son killed him Tuesday morning with his Remington 700MLS.....I enjoyed that drag though!

I suggest you try some of the short profile broadheads. Nothing but praise on this forum for the Slick Trick 125's. Personally, since I couldn't find any locally, I went with the Sonic 125's. They shoot to same spot a filed tips at 50, and I went 5 for 5.

CF,

This story is excellent. You have video in your mind that you can play over and over, any time you want. You can look back at the cam pictures and see him as he walked through your woodlots and your dreams. What a wonderful ending!!

Great Job!

Man oh Man,

Way to go CF. That buck is a beauty....your story goes to show that those opportune moments can arise from a spur of the moment change in plans...that was a good day NOT to stay in the field working.

Everything is paying off here in Virginia this year!

Crazyfarmer, Way to go and a great Va. buck. We are producing some good ones this year and with a good mast crop in the lower altitude areas, next year should be great too. I enjoyed your story......I was right there beside you! Bad thing for me is that now with ML in, I am relegated to doe only.......

Good job. That 2219 should give you about 460-470 grains, depending on BH weight.

Thanks for all the comments. I was shooting Sonic 125's. He was dead in 5 seconds. There was no blood in his mouth. We have all seen flukes. The Sonics are 5 for 5 this year. My only gripe is the ferrules bend easy on impact with trees, roots, etc., after pass throughs. As to the shirt, just an old ...

10 Pointer Down!!

10-28-09 at 6:40 PM, this was the seventh deer seen during the afternoon. There was a smaller 8 pointer with him. 30 yard shot, both lungs and top of heart, 60 yard recovery....with no blood trail....20 inch spread, 32 mm bases, and 10 points with a crab claw, 135 pounds dressed.....10-28 has always...

Over the years I tried several different Xbows that friends had. Never saw anything to make me want to hang up my Mathews......until a buddy practically wanted to give away his Exomax and all accessories......what a precision instrument!
