Re: Broadhead search...need some feedback please

I don't have any suggestions for use on turkeys, but I am satisfied with my broadheads for deer. I have had good experiences with the Wasp 3-blade Hammer SSTs. Shot a nice 9-point through the spine and lodged in his rear leg bone. No damage to the broadhead other than dulled the blades. I was always...

Re: Curious who uses aluminum versus carbon shafts

Although my Excalibur came with carbon arrows I quickly converted back to aluminum. I have used aluminum arrows since my regular bow days. I make my own arrows from raw shafts and I feel aluminum is easier to work with. To me I would prefer to be able to see any defects in an arrow. If it is bent it...

The sales guy said the wax off of the string was all that was needed to keep down friction. There is some wax on the rails, I thought this to be "normal". Not an excessive amount, but if you look close you can see it. Should I wipe it down?

I was told, from Cabela's, that you were not supposed to put lube on the rails of Excalibur bows. They said the wax from the string was enough. Should I be lubing the rails on my crossbow?

How was the show? I used to go every year but haven't been for several. I remember when they used to sell firearms at the show. I was really good back then. The last few times I went it was mostly people selling fishing stuff, boats, and hunting trips. If you were looking for a guide service you cou...

Re: Where does one find a STS???????

What does it do ?????Any Pics????Thankx Huntz As stated, it is a vibration dampener. It is supposed to quite the string when you shoot. I just got mine, haven't gotten it installed yet, but posts from others say it really helps with the noise. I bought mine from Ye Olde Archery Shoppe. I'll post a ...

I started the poll, discussed above. I prefer aluminum over the carbon. I have always shot aluminum with my compound and make my own arrows. I can make the carbon too, but I have all the components for aluminum. As stated, aluminum bends. But, fiberglass shatters. Carbon is certainly more foregiving...

Tried some broadheads I bought a few years ago. 100gr Thunderheads. Man did they really bite for accuracy!! The only one I shot went 8" low and 4" left of my field points at 30 yds. Watched the arrow do all kinds of bad things on the way to the target. Appeared to have wind-planed really b...

I don't load for this round, but I have quite a few reference books and websites that I could probably send ya if you can't find the data you are looking for. Just let me know what loads your looking for and I'll see what I can find.

So far the results are what I expected. Thanks for the replies. I used to use big broadheads for my bow and am just leary of the small 1 1/16 cut heads that I have been using. I like a big cut surface for less than perfect shots. Is there a happy medium for bigger wounds and still getting good fligh...

Interesting results. So far, in the pole twice as many say they are using carbon instead of aluminum. But darn near all the replies are for aluminum. I too prefer aluminum, but have considered changing over just because carbon is the only thing I can find around here. For those of you who are using ...
