When it comes to dryfires there are 3 types of shooters: 1. Those that have dryfired. 2. Those who haven't dryfired yet, but will someday. 3. Those who have and lie about it. It's happened twice to me and both times it was because I was distracted and broke my routine (was messing with the rangefin...

What's the benefit? I've never used an STS before and not sure what is gained here. Is it that it makes the bow more quiet?

I own a Phoenix and love it. It's a great crossbow and the only one I would take on a back country / remote hunt. With that said, it is wider than I would like and that is one of the advantages of a compound crossbow. I think there is room for both, with each having particular strengths and weakness...

Re: Anyone use 2 ton epoxy for inserts/nocks?

Curious if someone uses this? Or would fletching glue work? Goat Tuff for fletching and inserts on my carbon arrows. I've had problems with 2 part epoxy in the past with inserts coming loose - never had one come loose with goat tuff. With that said, you better get that insert seated QUICKLY with go...

I suggest you go to a shop and try before you buy. I have the Phoenix and have taken two deer with it since I bought it last year. It's more than enough for anything I'd ever hunt in my life. Speed is nice but don't make the mistake of buying something you aren't comfortable cocking for repeated pra...

I have a hard time not sounding like a fanatic about this but I'll try and say it as P.C. as I can. Man loses his 'humanity' in times and places of extreme violence. The Congo is one such place - and the atrocities committed against man, and gorillas in this case, are just an illustration as to how ...

I've used both wraps and paint with the same results. I'm just interested in a more hardened solution that doesn't look like crap after use. You would think the manufacturing process would allow for that. We don't see our camo patterns wearing off at a fast rate on either carbon or aluminum - I just...

If you're not afraid of your hunting heads, they're not sharp! And take it from me - you need to be afraid of your hunting heads! Cut a tendon in my right hand with a stupid accident with a Magnus BH prior to picking up the crossbow. The hand will never be the same and all from just pushing it on t...

Manufactured/High Visibility Crossbow Bolts

Man, do I love a crested arrow/bolt! Not only do they add a touch of class but they also can help in monitoring the arrow in flight and assist in analyzing a hit with more visible blood sign/type on the shaft. My preference is for a white or light colored vane & white crest but I've found them n...

If Excalibur could be all things to all of my xbow needs it would be the only bow I bought. I own a Phoenix and you won't be able to pry it out of my hands. Simple, reliable, accurate, and field serviceable. The ONLY xbow I would take on a back country or once in a lifetime remote hunt. Given all th...

I'm a meat hunter....no wait, I'm an antler hunter....well, not really. I'm whatever strikes my fancy as the deer walks by. Occasionally, one will walk by and I start salivating (usually when the freezer's empty and the shot is too good to pass up). Then on other times (freezer is pretty full) I'll ...

Ask yourself honestly, do the scores at the FCAs make you want to run out and buy a Middleton, Horton or Bowtech X-bow? No, it doesn't influence me in the slightest. Others might think differently though. What it DOES do however is make me wonder about the "Worlds Most Accurate Hunting Crossbo...
