Moose Hunt

7 Days till we leave for a two week moosehunt in 18A, sure hope it cools down a little.We are 70 KM north of Nakina at the top of 18A. Any advise from the wealth of info on this site??? Good hunting to the rest of you.

Thanks guys for the help, found a web site that advertised the thermacell and says it does work on black flies. I new I could count on good information form the guys on this site . Off to buy one But will not forget to take all the bug netting. Good hunting Mike

Black Flies

Can anybody out there tell me if the threma cell repellent works on black flies? Heading out moose hunting soon and if the flies are like last year it would be nice to have some protection other than a head net. Thanks and keep up the most informant form going.

We might be a little behind times, but we use 2117s with 125 Thunder heads with our exocet 175s and they work fine. Have not lost a moose yet, in fact none have gone more than 100 yds.Three bulls in 5 years. Leaveing Sept. 22, hope it starts to cool down soon, Good Luck

We use bikes for our moose hunting, as you say it,s getting hard to hunt because of gates going up all over the north.Pirvate lodges up here in Canada seem to have the right to gate roads to stop motorized vehicals, but they can not stop us from walking or rideing our mountain bikes. Whats the deal with Bow Hunting during Black powder season. Is it legal around the PORT PERRY area or not. I here if you wear hunter orange you can still hunt??? Any Comments :?: :roll: :roll:

Moose Hunting

Heading to area 18A on Sept. 24/04 for 2 weeks. There are 4 of us, 2 crossbow shoters (Exocets) and 2 compound shooters. We where lucky again this year and got 2 bull tags and called in for a cow tag.So far in the last 4 years we have got a moose each year, 2 for the crossbows and 2 for the compound...

Used the wovorine for moose, and it did a fine job. Just make sure you know your yardages real good. I use 2117s with 125 Thunder Heads. Good luck and Good hunting
