I don't use the Gilly suit. I use the leafy one. The leafy one works so well it should almost be illegal. When people ask me about it I usually say it's horrible. Catches on everything and so forth. I don't want the word to get out where I hunt that this product is that good. I have had deer come ri...

You fiqure out the power stroke with a hand held scale. Plot it out on graph paper. As you pull back on the scale record the poundage. The limbs will kind of breakover giving you a dip in the poundage. You want to shoot on the uphill side of the power stroke. I think this only applies to compound st...

O/T Moonshine stills

I've been thinking that it would be a fun hobby to make my own spirits at my cabin in the woods. I found some nice stills on the internet and would sure like to get started (Georgia ridge cooper stills). I checked with my state's Alcahol beverage control board and see that I can do this but they hav...

I've seen several in Virginia. One at about 20 ft. up in a tree. I was very impressed by the size and muscle structure. That is one tough looking critter. The muscles on him just rippled with every movement. I don't doubt they can take down a deer. I was glad I had my shotgun with me as the cat was ...

I was grumbleing about his size in that he didn't deserve to tag that deer. He was too heavy and out of shape to have earned it. He didn't have to hike up the mountain for it or drag it out. Come to think of it - I've seen some nice deer taged by novices. Dumb luck can beat out skill and knowledge e...

I credit a great deal of my hunting skill to one monster 10 point. I spent three years hunting him almost non stop. I had several opportunities to stick him but it was always in the rut when he threw caution to the wind. I just didn't have the heart to kill him when he came by with his nose up some ...

I just looked at the game finder site. I don't know what to say as I don't know anyone who has any of their stuff. It all looks dubious to me with the one exception of the audio amplifier and I don't know if that works either. Consumer reports said the Ionizers which I guess that one item is, doesn'...

And then there are the flourecent flash lights to pick up blood spots. I don't know if they work either but am leary of everything. It's the old "there is one born every minute thing". I wonder if people actually make any money coming up with a worthless piece of cr*p devise. Im always sur...

Our state just recently instituted that call in procedure for deer. It is a lot easier now and might just be the solution to the problem. Kind of miss that opening night at the check in station though. It was nice seeing what was out there. If the only ones that came in were scrawny little spindly s...

One thing about the Benoit brother's stratagy that is more or less alien to me is that they don't wait for the perfect shot. Any shot they get is ok with them. Trailing a deer with bullet holes in them is easier then trailing one that is totally untouched. I don't want to get into that Texas heart s...

I went back to that spot a few times afterwards. It would turn into a big racked deer convention once hunting season kicked in. If there is anything as a honey hole for big bucks that was it. Too much work for me though even if I had a deer cart which would probably be useless anyway. I range pretty...

I didn't get anywhere with the benoitbigbucks. I typed in benoit brothers in my search engine however and got into their site. Those are some impressive bucks. They definately have a sucessful hunting strategy. Of course it helps to have endless tracks of land to hunt. I can't go more then a mile or...

Hello Buckshot. Im not hibernating just trying to think of something else to talk about. I posted something recently about preparedness and survival in the event of a national emergency that seemed to go over like a lead balloon. On another subject - I was wondering if you folks with all the snow ma...

I hear what your saying Grizz. None of us know for sure just what would happen in a really bad long term situation nor do we want to even think about it. Could I turn away a mother with kids - No way. Maybe all preperation is just a waist of time. Maybe I would just give it all away or as someone el...
