Hey Tye,
I was going to make some sort of comment about what that white stuff is on the ground. We haven't seen a flake of snow in ages. I suppose that was a picture of you in early October. Aren't you supposed have at least four feet on the ground by this time of year?

Is it just me or what? The deer are always 50/60 yards out during bow season and then gun comes in and the shots are 30 yards or less. Go fiqure.

Its been a tough year for my son and myself also. We both got bucks but we had to put in a lot of hours to get them. Worst year ever. To make matters worse, we started noticing dead bucks all around this one clearing in the area we hunt in. We found two six pointers and a nine and one with the head ...

Thanks for all the good advice. I have Brookies in the stream that runs by my house and you can catch 50 by lunch time. Too bad they're only 5" to 7" long. I've fished a lot of big name streams both in the east and the west but with mixed results. The best streams seem to be the ones you j...

Kamloops might work out. I guess i would fly into Spokane and rent a car. If I remember right, Kamloops is just north of Sand Point, Lake Pondoray (sorry about the spelling). Thanks.

Fly Fishing in Canada

I guess it's because I've been hunting for so long that now I'm thinking about fishing. If you could go anywhere in Canada to fly fish for Browns, Rainbows, and Cut Throats, where would you go? What would be a good time of year so as not to get eaten up by black flies, etc.? I'd like to plan a trip ...

I kind of wonder how many entries will be submitted. All it will take is one monster buck and no one else will submit anything. This contest could be decided on day 1. It would be cool if we had that new Maryland state record, the swamp deer, or any of those Ohio monsters as entries but we'll have t...

Next year would be the time to start this I guess. I like the region idea and vote by members. Would Excal be willing to maybe throw in a 20% discount on some or all their products to the winner?

I start out hunting for an eight pointer or better for the first deer then go to 10 points or better for the second. If I just shot anything I would be tagged out in three days and my season would be over just as it was beginning. I maintain my point quota for the intire season and won't just go ahe...

Im with your line of thinking. In the old days I had the attitude that if I didn't take him someone else would. Some times this turned out to be true other times not. Now I know that the basket rack eight I passed on this year might be next years trophy 10. I passed on one 12 pointer this year that ...

I have had bad luck setting up too early. If I got into my stand two hours early it had a lot more potential to spread my scent all over the place. A half hour early seemed to work the best. Timing is everything.

As long as the wind stays pretty much in the same direction I would think you could just walk in and bust them. Note their escape path and come back for them the next day. I'll send a buddy in to bust them if I have one with me or I use my walkie talkies. I hang my walkie talkies on tree limbs and u...

The Tree Saddle (evaluation)

I purchased this item recently due to some recommendations on this web site. Now that I have it I thought I'd post an evaluation. The good points - This gets an A+ for portability. If you have a long hike in where getting up means the difference between sucess or failure this is the item to take. I ...

I haven't been able to find a commercial brand of safety harness that will fit me. Im not all that big but in the winter with quilted goose down long johns, wool clothing, and a huge polar parka (does the Pillsbury dough boy or the Michelen man ring a bell) I can't find anything to work. To make mat...

I can see how that could happen. Postings like this and the things said in the stupid posting are a good heads up as to what could go wrong. I hope these sad examples can make us all a little more aware of the danger and thus a little safer. From now on I'm pulling the arrow before I sling my crossb...
