Early one morning I was riding in the back seat of my buddie's car along with two other friends up front. We were on our way to hunt when this animal darted out in front of the car. It happened so fast that we wern't sure what it was. Fearing that it was a farmers cat as we had just passed his barn ...

I've noticed since I moved to the mountains and have clean well water that I can smell the clorine or whatever they put in the city water. It seems to hang in the hair and the skin after you bathe, and most certainly in your clothes after you wash them. If I can smell it, the deer can. I guess city ...

Tree Saddle
I don't know who it was that mentioned the tree saddle but I broke down and got one on your recommendation. Bit pricey and I wish they had sent me a large instead of the xlarge. I tried it out in the back yard and it is indeed pretty comfortable. This is going to be just the ticket since I hunt 4 to...

No, I'm not on the verge of spot lighting. After 52 years of deer hunting I've developed quite a bag of tricks to get the one I'm after. I worry some about being too smart though. Have I honed my hunting to the point where it's not a fair chase anymore? I've done the stinky socks thing as Lv2hnt has...

This is really bad news. The anti will be emboldened by this success and you can bet it's coming to your state eventually. I don't see any way to stop them. As hunters we have always tried to be low key so as not to affend the non-hunting public. Most of us no longer tie our deer kills to the front ...

I fortunately have access to a walk in cooler. To properly hang deer or any meat it is supposed to be kept at something like 34 degrees. I can't leave mine outside if it's going to be 25 degrees at night and 60 the next day. I usually pack mine with ice and roll it up in a tarp if it's hot out and/o...

Hunting Tricks
Does anyone have any hunting tricks to share with us? I have several that I have used. One involved an escape route used by a good buck. He bedded deep in this thicket that was impossable to penetrate without spooking him. At first I blazed a trail along the edge of and slightly inside the thicket, ...
