I went to the Mossberg website and they sell the 930 in a combo with a fully rifled deer barrel and a normal barrel.

People have opinions of which gun may be better in terms of quality, but don't let your friend forget that how a shotgun fits/feels/comes up is probably the most important factor when choosing one. I picked up a lumizone and noticed the same thing. However, the zero point is not the top position of the dial. It is actually at 9 oclock and not at 12 oclock.

Not the design I would have chosen, but everything makes sense, when you look at it that way.

Years ago, before I'd ever seen the stringer, someone told me about them and I made my own out of 3/4" plywood.

Worked fine and I still use it.

In Ontario, you can also put the tag through a slit in the ear. It doesn't have to go around the antler.
