It does sound fun. I also shoot a longbow and my buddy shoots a recurve. A couple of year back we started skeet shooting frisbees with flu flu arrows. Good points all...I was taught that you should always end your practice on a high note. It reinforces the positive mindset required to shoot confidently and therefore improve.
