Not a bad idea L&B... not as many of the rascals as there used to be around here though. Used to go frog hunting several nights each summer, pinning them to the bank, but afraid the arrows will bury too deep in the soft mud coming out of the Ibex. My selfbows would bury them to the feathers some...

Suppose it is a bit misleading... a bit of "strategery" to garner views. :P

Think I'll give the yellowjacket a break tonight (it's dern near wore out anyway), screw on some old bludgeon points, & hunt up some stumps. Sure wish squirrel season was here, less than 2 months now.

Well, that's the last straw...

... I'm now ready to call this Excalibur crossbow the finest weapon I have ever fired. Have loved that Ibex from the start, but this sealed the deal. Earlier this week, the serving on the stock string finally gave out. Broke out the stringer, and the spare string I bought with the bow. Had already p...

I too have the Phoenix' fraternal twin, the Ibex. Find it quite easy to span with the rope aid, though it'll depend somewhat on the nature of your shoulder problems. Have a balky shoulder myself, rotator cuff & some nasty tendon problems, but legs & back do most of the work, especially with ...

Interesting... would've thought most folks here shot fairly often. Guess it can be tough with kids, other interests, etc. I've got kids & job too, but other than fishing with the kids & growing a small garden, I don't do much else for recreation. Freshly divorced, so no husband duties :? , a...

How much do you shoot your crossbow?

Just curious. Did a search but didn't see any threads on the topic, at least in 2009. I'm "on pace" for a little over 5000 shots/year with the Ibex, but only 3 weeks into it. Honestly though, I can see myself getting to that number, if not higher. It's a joy to shoot, seldom far from a pla...

It's a Spigarelli tool. Seems capable of some serious tension, but not sure how it stacks up to other tools. It's all I've ever used since starting to roll my own. Thanks for the tip about Angel Majesty, was not aware of it. As far as diameter is concerned... is .025 - 0.030 the acceptable range whe...

Thanks Boo! Suspected it might not last that long, being less abrasion resistant than some other servings. Had no idea about the diameter though... thinking out loud, seems you'd want a slightly thinner serving with dacron than with the Dyneema materials, since the string is thicker, does that make ...

#1994 Excel string- .025" serving ok???

Approaching 300 shots on my new Ibex & archived posts here indicate I should be expecting to need new center serving soon. Have seen that .030 Halo is highly recommended, & will probably get a spool before long. But in the meantime, will .025 BCY Polygrip do the job? Have 1/2 spool left over...
