Re: Discouraged Lost two turkey

Thanks guys for the info. Are you saying that I should avoid the magnus bullhead broadhead which is made for head/neck shots. Again has anybody used them successfully with a Excalibur?

Re: Discouraged Lost two turkey

Thanks Tom for all the info I may try those in the future. When I hit both birds they showed they were hit but walked away in sight without looking injured should I have chased after them? They didn't walk like they were fatally hit so I sat tight and waited. Did I do the right thing? I ordered the ...

Re: Discouraged Lost two turkey

I have never had a rage open prematurely when using my equinox. Since I am using the 330 there is no reason they should open with less speed. The rage extreme I used on the second bird had the new shock collar and 2.3 inch cut. I think the vitals are small and I will avoid shooting them in the body ...

Re: Discouraged Lost two turkey

Thanks guys for the encouragement this particular property the land owner only allows bow hunting. If it was up to me I would be using a shotgun also. this is my prime deer archrey area and I don't want to lose it.

Discouraged Lost two turkey

Last year first day of turkey I had a long beard down fast with my ibex. It took a few steps with lots of blood and expired. This past Saturday which is the first day of turkey in Pa. I was in the same spot and same blind. At 7 a.m I shot one at the same distance and what seemed like the same area o...

Re: Matrix 330 accuracy?

I shot my 330 last night with a new triggertech trigger. This is my third Excalibur and definitely my favorite. I was hitting a dime size dot at 20 yards with factory arrows. My friend and I are heavy weightlifters and he was struggling cocking his 405 and even broke a bloodvessel in his finger; how...

Mole Skin

I have used mole skin on my traditional vertical recurves in the past to help silence string slap. I put it close to the tips were the string touches the limbs. I have been using excaliburs since 2008 and never thought of trying it until now. I have and equinox with disapater pads and a 330 with Dan...

Re: To much arrow weight?

I think what you did is a smart choice. If you hit a deer a little forward in the shoulder you will be happy you used the heavy arrow with the higher FOC. I Shoot 550 grain arrows out of my equinox and 420 out of my 330. I Always go heavier out of my recurve vertical bows also.

Re: 1st Dry Fire

No bumpers on the 330 model. On the older models I always heard a dry fire is safer with the factory string which was even shown on one of excalibur advertisements. Is this string the same type of factory string that came with the older models.

Re: 1st Dry Fire

Thanks for all your help I will check the bow cocked boo. Can anyone give me there opinion on these 2? How do you use this single line? since there is a shorter stroke on my 330 am I safer with a dry fire than other models?

Thanks Big D

Re: 1st Dry Fire

Thanks guys for your help. I did check with a cotton ball and seems good. I would think the string stretching making brace height shorter would make bow faster but the poi was lower instead of higher. I have two other ?s. I noticed there is only one line on the new matrix for brace height rather tha...

1st Dry Fire

It has been a while since I have been on the forum. Just purchased my third Excalibur on Wednesday a matrix 330. I have taken thousands of shots and harvested over 65 deer here in PA with my x-bows. I have never dry fired my equinox and ibex but the first session with my 330 did not go the same. My ...

Re: coyote hunting

I also live in western pa and you are right they are hard to hunt. I have had success calling in over a 1/2 dozen foxes with a few kills but not yet had any luck with yotes. I found a few places with coyotes but I think some parts of pa do not have the population like ohio and others. The call I use...

Re: Excalibur 175# bows speed

Thanks for all your help. With your help and the arrow selection chart I came to a conclusion on the speed of my new Ibex. All speeds could be changed slightly with the use of different strings and different brace height. These first three speeds using #1989 Flemish Dyna Flight String 1. 2219 100gr....

Re: Excalibur 175# bows speed

Thanks awshucks for that info. like I stated the 2219 100grain tip shoots 282 at 452 grains; therefore, with my 432 g.t.lazer2 and 4 more feetper second I would be at 286. Since the 2216 with 100gr tip shoots 287 1 fps faster, I am still curious what the 2216 100gr tip weighs. Anyone shoot and no th...
