Scope
Putting a scope on my vixen has helped my accuracy a lot. Especially while hunting. I get so excited when I see a deer that before I had a scope on my x-bow I would not do a good job lining up the front and rear sights. I would often miss a deer or make a poor hit. With a scope just put the single c...

Tips
1. Put a scope or red dot with a field of view greater than 65 feet at 100 yards on your crossbow. No other single thing has improved my accuracy as much as this tip. I would get so excited shooting at a deer I would not bear down and line up the 2 parts of the sights on a x-bow. 2. Hunt around corn...

Scope
I have a Simmons crossbow scope that I have had for quite a while. I do not know if it is still made. I do not know its magnification, but its field of view is around 70 feet at 100 yds. This lets me see a whole deer if it is right under me. When I buy a scope for deer hunting I am always looking at...

Brush Barriers for Deer
In January we had one heck of an ice storm in northern Ohio. Worst ice I have seen in my 40 years. No power for 4 days, limbs down everywhere. Been going out to my stand sites getting limbs off my preferred deer trails to get deer to use them. I have read that a person can make brush piles to nudge ...

Crossbows
I without a doubt support the use of crossbows in Wisconsin. I would like to see them legalized nationwide. I think they will only help the cause of hunting. Other than it being hard to shoot a crossbow to the right for a right handed person, I have not experianced any disadvantages of using a cross...

Sorry I have no experiance with that scope. I do have an old Simmons crossbow scope on my Vixen that works great. I think the accuracy is in the crossbow more than the scope. Now that I say that I should add that I do not shoot target and only shoot out to 30 yds. I have never been one to spend as m...

Crossbows in Wisconsin
I think that due to chronic wasting disease in the deer herd in Wisconsin the state is looking for more ways to manage the deer herd. As can be seen by the history of crossbow use in Ohio and probably other states, the crossbow is a very efficient tool in managing a deer herd. This coupled with the ...

Local Excaliber Dealer
Gary,
Would that be the hunting and fishing shop in Huron Ohio. If not, what town are you talking about.

Ohio Deer and Turkey Expo
Anyone going to the Ohio Deer and Turkey Expo in Columbus on March 17,18,19. I have been going for several years and really enjoy the show as well as the educational seminars put on by knowlegeable people. There have even been seminars on crossbow shooting in years past. I usually go on a Sunday, bu...

Welcome
Hello Mailman,
Welcome to the forum. Love my Vixen I got this fall. There is a excaliber dealer on the website named bj that is worth his weight in gold for his knowledge, willingness to share information, and reliability as a dealer.

The year crossbows were legalized in Ohio.
When did crossbows become legal in Ohio for deer hunting. I think I started using one about 1980. Anyone know for sure. Thanks.

Questions
I am new to shooting an excaliber myself. I only shoot out to 30 yds, but I also only shoot one arrow/bolt at a time for fear of hitting my first arrow if I would shoot a 2nd bolt. I have shot other crossbows and excaliber has been the most accurate. I like a scope on everything I shoot because when...
