Re: Performance help needed from all / including technicians
Danny said that crossbow silencers are for the hunter not the deer. He is probably right.

Re: alum arrows
As a side note, the 20" crossbow arrow is a lot shorter than a compound arrow. It is alot stiffer and less prone to bending. Always spin test an arrow with b/head attached.

what the fletch
My current arrows are 2216's, 125 slick trick mag's, and I use ten point nocks. The tenpoint nocks allow an insert that makes it easy to re-fletch the arrows. Does anyone else use this setup? Seems to me that it would be hard to fletch a solid flat nock. I would like to know what you use. I'm using ...

Re: stringing rope sleeve
Thanks for the help everyone. I have polished the hooks with fine sandpaper per Boo's tutorial. Guess I'll use the original, minus the sleeve, until it shows wear then use one from Dereck, thanks Dereck. Never thought of paracord, might try it down the road.

stringing rope sleeve
The plastic sleeve on my stringing rope is getting chewed up by the claw hooks. Anyone just remove it and use the bare rope?

Re: Alternative to Jigaloo?
The jigaloo will slick the rail but it is not necessary. I use it occasionally.

Re: String wax and rail wax
I really like Dalton's for the string. I Don't use it on the serving. My thoughts are if you use it on the serving, it will soften it and shorten the life of the serving. Jig-a-loo is what I use on the rail (metal) don't use on plastic.

Re: New Excel string question
stringdatbow, if it is short of reaching the line, then putting more twist will make it shorter. leave it on the bow a few days which should stretch it some, shoot it 25-30 times, see if that gets it between the lines. if that doesen't work and if you have enough twist in string undo a couple of twi...

Re: Limb dampener UPDATE
Several months ago I called Danny Miller (US Excal Warranty) about the S-5's. He is not a fan of using any type of silencing system. According to Danny, anything that silences an Xbow is for the hunter, not for the animal. I'm not sure if you can get an Xbow as quiet as a Compound, IMHO.
